Re: Downtown Buildings with Activity

are they stripping off that awful paint? I'm guessing it will be restored to it's "original" facade as much as possible. I have not confronted the owner with that particular question though... I'm just happy they have been working non stop on the rehab. The interior is really getting cool...

Re: Downtown Buildings with Activity

Here's some minor development news... 2018 Main is finally getting worked on. It could be a beautiful building / space when finished. Inside and out. The owner is back in town and motivated to fix it up. This photo is from a few years ago. http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h191/whitehorserun/2018MAI...

Copy that! A voice from the past. I'd rather see the chef and MD duke it out than read one more useless post of im2cool. But that's just me.... Otherwise, I'll check back in a few weeks.

Re: Smokin Joes to become pub?

What happened to Smokin' Joes?  It used to always be packed at lunch.  They spent all that money on the upgrade and deck, and then "Poof" it was closed. It wasn't the greatest que in the world, but not bad - lunch special was a good deal and within walking distance.  I was surprised to se...

Great shot GRID. Were you flying around during the NCAA tournament last week? There were helicopters hovering over the crossroads last Thursday and Friday. Thought it might be you, or CBS.

Re: Kansas City telephone exchange names

Does anyone know where I can find telephone exchange names for the Kansas City area from about the 1950s or 1960s? I know DElmar was used in this area for 33- exchanges.  I am also sure that WYandotte was used in this area for 99- exchanges because it appears in Ma Bell's officially recommended exc...

Hey Shinatoo, I sent you a PM, but our building is available as an event space. We are right next to the Freighthouse building.

Re: Big 12 Football 2008

I think he was the difference. His ability to run was huge, especially late in the game. He certainly outplayed Bradford in the end. Florida's defense gets a lot of the credit too. I'll agree that the fawning was a bit overboard. I haven't even heard the expression "leper colony" in the la...

Re: Big 12 Football 2008

It's probably not an option, but I'd rather have Tebow than Bradford or Stafford as our 2009 #1 draft pick. Dude is tough and looks like a great pro in the future.

Tough loss for the Sooners...

Yeah, get it out of your system Toss. I've seen you with the public and you're actually very nice to total strangers. Even moronic ones.

Go back to bed.

Re: Trains blowing their horns at 2:30 AM

I've lived next to tracks out here in the sticks for the last 18 years. I've gotten used to the sound. My kids don't even really notice, they have grown up with the sound of trains whistling by. In the last couple of years they've added the quiet zones to two of the three crossings that we hear. It'...

Re: Habitat Leaving the Crossroads

Digital Labrador is pulling out of the Crossroads and going to JoCo... Seems like the Crossroads has petered out before it ever really got a chance to take off. I don't think we are going back to the way it was (vacant vacant vacant), but the hotness of the area is about as cold as it can get. Cycl...

Re: KC in TV and Movies

I was riding through the West Bottoms on Saturday night and ran into a full contingent of movie trailers and a set lit up and ready to go, right along the 670 bridge. Anyone know what they are filming? My friend said he saw the same group in Independence earlier in the week and judging by their loc...

Re: KC in TV and Movies

Looks like 'Lie to Me' has been renamed 'Fling' and will have it's Midwest premiere in KC at the Screenland on November 7th.  http://www.flingmovie.com/fling_-_home.html So will it open in other theaters soon after? Actually it's Nov 14th at Screenland. Director, Producer and a couple of the actors...
