Re: Troost developments

To be fair it's on troost, but yes alas progress as sad as that is to say I remember seeing an earlier rendering for a project on Troost and the people in it were of the "young white ladies in yoga pants drinking lattes" type. Not that there aren't those people in that area, but I just fo...

Re: Westport

New, larger residential projects should be concentrated on Broadway, Main Street, and Linwood. Empty lots and post-WWII building sites should be prioritized first. Maybe provide incentives for replacing empty lots and surface parking with new buildings. Any time a historic building is going to be d...

Re: Westport

Apparently the street vacation wasn’t part of the Westport Building Ban. It’s going back to CPC on 11/7. There’s some kind of quid pro quo where WRBL will support HKC/Vicki Noteis/Lisa Briscoe’s efforts to amend the PMAP and extend the Plaza height restrictions into Westport, in exchange for the st...

Re: Are apartment rental costs too high downtown?

are we asking this question about other neighborhoods? Are there other neighborhoods with rent as high as Downtown? I assume Plaza must be there as well. Personally, no I don't think they are but I think it might be the wrong question to ask, instead I think the question is, is there enough mid-tie...

Are they just painting the back of the building, or are they now on the front? If front, someone needs to stop them. That's a beautiful building as is.

Ugh I hate them and I hate how worked up this is making me. I feel you on that, happens to me too. Best thing that I've found that helps is to use that as fuel to push for what you want. For example, volunteer to help with the streetcar expansion. We're going to need to make a big push to make sure...

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

I think the further you get outside of downtown and the longer the line gets, the more sense it makes to go center lane. Traffic enforcement decreases, and the chance for delay grows. I don't necessarily see it as a 'commuter' mentality, and I think it makes Main Street look so much less menacing w...

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

anti-rail, not anti-transit. a bus tax has never failed in KCMO or specifically on the east side. votes in 2003 and 2008. How about a petition to increase the transit sales tax to fund: 1. Higher bus frequency 2. No fares on all public transit 3. Streetcar/Lightrail Expansion Do you think the Easts...
