Re: Brookside

I feel like Midtown is very safe in terms of walking, I walk my dog at midnight a lot without any issues at all. I think the thing I think that hurts midtown walkability are the Major North/South Roads cutting thru it. At almost any stretch of them they act as basically a freeway, SW Trafficway is ...

Re: Brookside

Tried to go to Julian back in October with out-of-town family. Was completely dead (albeit weeknight), had to wait quite a while for the one front of house staff member to acknowledge us, inquire about seating. Looked a little run down. No Celina. Ended up at Carmen's nearby. The writing seemed on ...

Re: Gun Violence in KCMO

"Gun violence?" " ____ violence" is the real issue. If you have a brain at all you'll be able to fill in the blank. The demographic committing these shootings are almost always from single parent homes with no father around. You seem to be hinting at something,... but I ca...

Re: OPUS at Broadway Blvd and Westport Road

I'd actually prefer new developments just go more modern. The idea that getting a developer to slap some brick on the side of their building to make it 'fit with the neighborhood' doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Westport is a mosh mash. We should just be pushing for higher end finishes and walka...

Re: OPUS at Broadway Blvd and Westport Road

I guess this is better late than never, but the CPC meeting for the zoning change for this project is tomorrow. If you support this project, please email Patty Noll and express your support, it only takes a few minutes and makes a big difference! There will be a lot of people opposing this project a...

Re: OPUS at Broadway Blvd and Westport Road

The second one you posted is the newest one I have. Besides the additional brick, a few small changes facing Westport Rd, and the rooftop deck covering, I didn't notice much. I'll hopefully be meeting with the developer in the next week, I'll see if I can get any more info. Is there anything you al...

Maybe I'm in the minority on this one, but the design of this development reminds me of something that would show up on McMansion Hell (http://www.mcmansionhell.com).

Who's even drinking all these beers? And who can afford a 7 dollar pint? They are just going to price out those of us who like our 2 dollar Budweisers.

OPUS at Broadway Blvd and Westport Road

New thread for the OPUS development project at Broadway and Westport Road. This project would replace the Bank of America building at the corner as well as much (all?) of the surface parking along Westport Road and Broadway. Westport Terrace at Manor Square

Spun off a new thread dedicated to Westport Terrace at Manor Square. Not sure if this is the actual name of the project, but that's what the Star is calling it. This project will be along Pennsylvania and Mill St, where Char Bar is today. Star Article: http://www.kansascity.com/news/business/develop...

Re: HopCat at Westport/Broadway

The beer list is way out of scale with historic Westport beer lists. The beer density is too high which causes all kinds of traffic around the tables and bar. I can't even park myself in front of the bar unless I leave work early. I'm fearful that the beer list will block out the sun and in winter ...

Re: Westport's fate post-P&L

Was there indication of compromise to desire project w/out tearing down BOA? I wouldn't mind if it were 12 or even 20+ stories as that lot is huge enough to do a big project w/out tearing down BOA. Afterall the compromises for the other project by Char Bar look reasonable for all concerned parties....
