Ugh I hate them and I hate how worked up this is making me. I feel you on that, happens to me too. Best thing that I've found that helps is to use that as fuel to push for what you want. For example, volunteer to help with the streetcar expansion. We're going to need to make a big push to make sure...

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

I think the further you get outside of downtown and the longer the line gets, the more sense it makes to go center lane. Traffic enforcement decreases, and the chance for delay grows. I don't necessarily see it as a 'commuter' mentality, and I think it makes Main Street look so much less menacing w...

Anything that could help encourage jobs near transit routes would be huge. I'm so sick of driving to the burbs every day.

July ridership numbers... http://kcstreetcar.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/KCStreetcar_July2017Ridership.pdf Weekend ridership up but weekday avg down a bit compared to July 2016. If my math is correct, that's about 89 people a day less. Anyone know if the # of operating hours were same for this J...

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

anti-rail, not anti-transit. a bus tax has never failed in KCMO or specifically on the east side. votes in 2003 and 2008. How about a petition to increase the transit sales tax to fund: 1. Higher bus frequency 2. No fares on all public transit 3. Streetcar/Lightrail Expansion Do you think the Easts...

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

Has there ever been any focused studying of what makes the East side so anti-transit? Is it misguided fear at "losing" resources? I understand the misguided angst in having your taxes raised, but that doesn't seem to stop the east side for voting for a multitude of other tax increases. an...

Had a guys stop by our house today to ask if we supported a new terminal, specifically the Burns and Mac proposal. He asked if we'd like a free yard sign for supporting the plan. He didn't say who he was with but I assume the city?

Re: Midtown Apartments

Are there really so many apartments being built in midtown that local homeowners cannot find a place to park? Publishing an article claiming parking issues are "ruining midtown" seems a bit hyperbolic. Seems like it would be a much larger issue downtown where so many apartments have opene...

Re: Making downtown more pedestrian friendly

We live on this block and on the corner lives someone that works for BikeWalkKC. I assume that had something to do with it. Yep that's him. His house being at this intersection was purely coincidental. We had selected this intersection prior to him being involved because it was one of the few 4 way...

Re: Status and future of the River Market area??

Putting a new garage on 5th street is going to cause headache traffic congestion and eliminate a vital spot for residential/retail. It doesn't need to be right next to the City Market, it needs to serve the City Market. This would be the best block to build a new parking garage serving the City Mar...
