Re: 34th Terrace & Main

It's too late Darlene, I live right next to this "development" and I can't even use main anymore. It's just non-stop traffic jams. And they built it SO close to the street, I'm fearful that it will blot out the sun this winter and Main street will become just a huge sheet of ice. Won't anyone think ...

You don't plop a Home Depot SuperCenter on a lot next to 150-year-old Victorian buildings, and not get a lot of push-back.

Re: Renovations of apartment buildings along Armour Blvd.

Only thing I would change with the Armour bike lanes is to remove one parking space from each corner of the intersections. Since the parking is pushed out an extra 4-5 feet or so, it's really hard to see oncoming vehicles when driving or cycling. I suspect it's also really hard to see oncoming cycli...

Re: Drury Plaza Hotel

Looks like a 10-story project. If they smartened up the exterior a bit from this rendering (a little more modern and urban please) I don't hate it. Is the parking garage under the building or adjacent? Hard to tell. For that prime lot, a 2-story parking garage is on par with as bad as a 4 story hot...

Re: Google Maps renames neighborhoods, residents fume

The "Midtown Westport" neighborhood in the Roanoke/Volker area seems a bit off. There is no Midtown designation anywhere. It looks like the area from Main to Gillham and 31st to Armour is lacking a name. That is an area I refer to as Midtown. You would be on the extreme small size for that definiti...

Re: Google Maps renames neighborhoods, residents fume

Ours is called broadway-Gillham which I believe is the older name for it, but I prefer it over being associated with the dumpster fire of our current neighborhood of old Hyde park.

Had a comfortable and safe feeling ride over lunch today. Only one person told me to "get the fuck out of the road". And, strangely, it was a person headed the opposite direction. What're you gonna do.

Think of the resources our city spends uphold racism on one had and help alleviate it's effects on the other. Think of what those resources could go to if we didn't have to do this. Look at the police budget, if I recall, it's a HUGE portion of the city budget. It's primary job is to police our eas...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

The thing is, The Plaza is/was so great because the developer had a clear vision. He really cared about well-to-do white people and how his development looks and functioned. He also had a ton of pride for his developments and for KC. FTFY Racism aside, he really was a great developer with a great v...

I believe it has looked that was for a very long time. I wonder how well they will be able to match the brick when they repair that wall. Could just say screw it, replace it with something else and paint a mural? It would be nicer looking with matching brick but that's a LOT of matching brick to fi...

A large section of brick has been removed on the south side of the Hawthorne Plaza building in what I assume is major facade replacement work due to water damage.

Hasn't that brick been missing for a long time, or is there more removed now? I can't tell.
