Re: Westport

New, larger residential projects should be concentrated on Broadway, Main Street, and Linwood. Empty lots and post-WWII building sites should be prioritized first. Maybe provide incentives for replacing empty lots and surface parking with new buildings. Any time a historic building is going to be d...

You can also blame some immigrants who wanted their children to 'be American', by not teaching them the Old World ways or language because they wanted their children to identify as American. After a couple generations the identity could become lost. But would suspect many who call themselves Americ...

Re: 3260 Main

I can remember if I posted this before, but they said they have another 2-3 projects planned for Main St but haven't been announced yet. Great! I believe you mentioned the Mattress Store site as one possible project. Any idea on other potential locations? That was the only one they would tell us a ...

Re: 3260 Main

The apartments are aimed towards the 35+ age range, not "millennial apartments" as they said. The finishes in the apartments will be nicer than most new construction and floor plans will be larger than normal. I believe they said a single bedroom will be around $1400 and a 2 bedroom will ...

Re: 3260 Main

Thanks for the update. This sounds like good infill. What was the reaction from the neighborhood? We hosted an event with about 8 neighbors that were all literally right behind this project (and a couple that were on the other side of Main, near Gates) and they all liked it. Surprisingly, the devel...

Some notes I took from the meeting: The building will consist of apartments, parking, and retail. There will be 3 retail bays with a total space of just under 8k space total for retail. Part of the look they are going for is having a covered walkway above the sidewalk, so they are adding a 6 foot me...

Something? Or asbestos?

Asbestos. I stumbled upon a star article about it from years ago when reading about an illegal dump site on the east side of town.

Looking back at it now, this is actually the post that stuck in my memory more than anything you said, mean The topics are different, the goal is to use an item of moral or ethical importance for a group of people to get them against a political opponent. and in that sense, they are the same thing....

No longer Marty? We called him out on his term limits. He’s out, Scot is in, Scot is no better. Is there still going to be an election? There was one a week ago. It didn’t go well. Instead, the more YIMBY members of our neighborhood have been organizing despite the HOA. We’ll try again next year.

To be fair it's on troost, but yes alas progress as sad as that is to say I remember seeing an earlier rendering for a project on Troost and the people in it were of the "young white ladies in yoga pants drinking lattes" type. Not that there aren't those people in that area, but I just fo...
