Re: Wizards could ditch Bannister site in favor of Wyandotte County
I predict that a soccer team, and the stadium, will fail to draw the fans expected, and that in time, it will not contribute much to the Wyco economy. Safe prediction, if anyone believes soccer will draw very many, they haven't been paying attention to KC's soccer scene. Being part of the developm...

Re: Wizards could ditch Bannister site in favor of Wyandotte County
I don't see why it couldn't be a boon for the suburban KCK real estate market. It might not be that exciting to you or me, but living near the Legends and surrounding retail and restaurants might be appealing to many. I don't see any reason the Piper schools couldn't become a full-fledged suburban ...

I told him OP is not officially racist, but makes housing so expensive that poor people/low income could never move to OP, so what is worst? They do not need to pass laws like in MO just make it impossible to poor minorities to move to OP. By the way I had a Hispanic friend pulled over in OP for no...

Re: Carjacking at Town Center Plaza - driver shot in face
I'm confused as to how the injuries were non-life threatening. Lucky, dude. And for a Pontiac Vibe? Wow. Carjackers, as with many common criminals, are not noted for discretion or brilliance. They are more about the theft for whatever reason (including often to support a habit), and not about thi...

I guess you must have worked for queen carol because it shows you have no clue what's going on. The track is a negative to those retailers because they cared about those lost sales...there were 3 race weekends at the start...thats 6% of their sales taken away. It was all about the money for the tra...

Re: Jan 9, 2007 Tenant Announcement
Another explanation for Famous Dave's doing so well in Village West is probably because these hicks from Topeka, Salina, Hays, Hutchinson, and Great Bend truely believe it's local. In addition to that, the restaurant atmosphere is an eye-pleaser for the average joe dirt that doesn't get out much. ...

I was walking/dodging through the area today. Does anyone know the fate of Eat it An' Beat It, or Gigi's? Where's the thread? As they say, Location, Lo... blah blah blah Last I knew the BBQ was surviving. However, he was open to sell if offered enough money. I haven't seen anything about him se...

KC would have a much stronger stance if there was not the threat of poaching from the 'burbs. And Dunn knows it. To a degree, but this is a reality almost everywhere. I can see Dunn's concern about employment guarantees. Construction is cyclical, and there are warning signs out there of a slowdo...

As long as you are standing on public property such as the sidewalk or the street, legally you can photograph whatever you want to. If you are on public property and a security guard tells you that you can't photograph a building, tell the security guard to get fucked. I would avoid the "get f...

Re: KC Live to get unique fabric cover
This fabric material is cool but not 100% unique. It is currently being used on a massive scale on the Allianz arena in Munich, Germany and is responsible for that arena's signature look. The illuminated side panels are all made from this polymer. I believe there are other arena's worldwide that al...

yup. they got tired of putting 6 people in a room for 2 out in lawrence. they were literally putting ffa students that far away, it was ugly. but, there is a huge difference between now and 1997, i mean, now there is the muehlbach expansion, 400 rooms, the president, 200 rooms, and the radisson, 40...

Re: What is going on with the AT&T building?
Aren't there stupid city ordinances against large signs like that? I thought that's why the Lance Armstrnog American Century ad was only temporary. Nah, it can't be. Ordinances that would make such signage impossible. I couldn't believe it. (Yes, I believe you are correct. I'm sure they could ap...

Hey shinatoo, you be careful there. Every building must meet every poster's sense of beauty and urbanism, or it should be demolished. No matter the age, no matter its utility. Screw 'em.shinatoo wrote: Maybe cause every freaking crosscountry cable (phone and internet) is routed through that building.

The best architectural products seem to all come from Europe. Probably has something to do with the fact there is more demand for cool building products in Europe. As for the arena glass coming from China-- I suspect this is your typical case of a product being designed and developed in one countr...

Re: Better, but we're still talking about a Wal Mart (new Lawrence store)
Walmart sure loves to build their stores right across from existing grocery stores huh? Too bad for Dillons across the street if it gets built. Walmart is doing the same thing in Topeka. They built one down the street from a successful local grocery store and it went under within a year. Now they'r...
