Re: Quixotic dance
I've seen Quixotic before and we all left very impressed by the whole show. It was great and yes it's a mix of multi-media, dance, music, digital projection, etc. Dancers come from the KC ballet and pull off some hot moves. Awesome show... and going to see the current one this week. Looking forward ...

Re: Loose Park
... a public park is a public amenity where all kinds can gather and enjoy a beautiful sunny day, within legal boundaries. Loud music, along with unleashed pets and public drinking, is more acceptable in a park than a makeshift shooting range. I agree, within legal boundaries too of course. This i...

Re: Loose Park
This is my favorite park too, and I was there yesterday when the music was turned up rather loud. I think there is an appropriate level you can play music in a park, and that was exceeding it. I think its a legit complaint, and as someone that has been to private parties where police have come by f...

Loose Park
The most enjoyable park in KC for me has always been Loose Park. The large expanses, walking/jogging trail, tennis courts, children's play ground, rose garden, and large shelter area are great for bringing people from all over KC together to enjoy the out doors. I would venture to say many of the pe...

Re: hotel phillips or president
I second the Phillips and all it's Art Deco glory. The second floor is great for a party of people to hang out if needed (there's a little bar up there too), 12 Baltimore is good for food/music, and it's most likely much cheaper... I would think you could work the manager for a good group rate. A fr...

Downtown Community Improvement District, Certified Letter
Has any one else gotten a certified letter about Community Improvement District? It says a hearing will held on the 10th floor of City Hall on Thursday, Jan 24th. for the purpose of CONSIDERING the creation of a CID. I was under the impression a CID already existed in the loop... I mean, I've gotten...

Re: Sarah's on Grand
A few of us went there last night. Overall, we agreed it was good/great. Despite showing up as the kitchen was most likely closing, they very graciously accommodated us and the food was great! We ordered simple appetizers but if I could cook that well my self, I would be cooking more for friends and...

Re: Condo Supply
I know this from experience in my building and DT in general and from over a dozen agents. Resale if purchased in the last 2-3 years is producing little or negligible profit at best, none in most cases. What might be considered profit would only cover agents commission. I think what I'm trying to...

Re: Condo Supply
Condo values in KC have not appreciated in the last 2-3 years. Guess that is better, standing still, than actually devaluing as has happened in other cities. They have yet to sale a single unit at Wornall Park. I disagree. How could resale sales downtown produce profit otherwise? Watching many pr...

Re: Crown Center: urban disaster, shining star, or in-between
IMO Crown Center should turn over its retail componenet to a high end leasing agent like Taubman or Caruso who know how to take things to the next level. Imagine if Crown Center became more of a retail showplace with retail similar to what you see on the Plaza. I couldn't agree more. Anything atta...

Re: Arena Parking Challenge
Talking to a parking "guards" at the President Hotel on the EJ opening night, he told me the one big unknown for SC events was parking... and he said it went smoothly. They seemed pleased all went well. The other parking garages seemed to the in good business as well. On the other hand, on...

I noticed a sign tonight in the window for a new coffee house going in River Market... 412 Delaware I believe. Anyone have any info about it?

My list:
You Say Tomato (28th & Holmes)
Fervere (thur, fri, sat only)
Eggtc.
The Mixx
Broadway Cafe'
Blue Bird
Lava Room
Harry's Country Club
La Bodega
and for the "ooh, it looks icky and dirty in the city" types, a safe bet is Brio Tuscan Grill.

That glazed dark blue brick in the foreground is sweet. I think J.E. Dunn HQ has similar brick too. No? I've always like it and glad to see it used in P&L construction.QueSi2Opie wrote:

Re: Public art installation is under way at Oppenstein park
Sounds nice. I just wish the money could have been diverted to replace some of the FUBAR sidewalks and gutters in this city instead of reworking a park that didn't have maintenance issues in the first place. Or fixing neglected parks! I believe the money comes from some sort of public art funding th...

Re: soho lofts work?
Housing with balconies and views are more marketable. One Park Place might be selling better if it had open balconies. I agree, they make them more marketable, but it wouldn't work with One Park Place. It would interrupt with the original international style. Not to mention it is very windy up the...

Re: soho lofts work?
I really don’t have a preference of one versus the other because I don’t get vertigo nor do I have to worry about my heels. The reasoning for using one over the other has to do with the historical requirements established by the state for each project. There were more stringent requirements for F...

Re: soho lofts work?
I work for MRP and I would like provide you all with some more info on two of our current projects: Campbell and Fountains Lofts. The decking material used for these balconies is a little different than what we chose for Fountains. The floor is made of solid steel sheets with small perforations in...
