feels like the most buzz since the world series to me.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Saving a couple buildings east of Oak doesn't prevent the Royals from building Hotels and Apartment buildings over there, I don't see what the big deal is. You could save half the buildings on Oak, save the fire station, and still fit 10+ one light size buildings between Oak/Cherry/Truman/17th

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
I also doubt the mayor would come out and publicity say that if he didn't already know the royals were changing the plans to incorporate oak.

Re: New Chiefs Stadium
Lower bowl demolition is on the home side so I don't think this is part of the world cup renovations as they are making the field wider on the visitor side according to the previous renders. Maybe this is just making the tunnel entrance wider to make it easier to set up concerts? https://i.imgur.com...

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar
the center median is well used by commercial traffic. I love the look of the medians better for sure but you'd have to account for them somewhere. Main Street isn't a parking lot. Uber eats and other drivers need to quit using it as one too. The area has alleys, parking lots, loading docks, and sid...

There is hardly any panhandling along the streetcar route. Too few cars to be worth it.beautyfromashes wrote: ↑Mon Mar 18, 2024 4:02 pm Center islands breed panhandling issues. Sounds like an enforcement issue. I actually mentioned it on here a few years ago and people responded with”this is what happens in an urban area!” so I dropped it.

Re: New Chiefs Stadium
Did the world cup renovations just start? I was watching a video the Chiefs just posted 2 hours ago of Hollywood Brown touring the stadium and it looked like equipment in the background had ripped out a section of the lower bowl.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
During a conversation with Populous, I was told that while the current plan includes closing Oak, they are looking at several different options. I get the feeling they don't see it working without closing Oak though. Interesting news to me however, they claim Oak will remain open to pedestrians, in...

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar
I'm getting beyond annoyed by the people that just abandon their cars in the turn lane because it's a free parking spot and the lack of pedestrian islands on the downtown route is just absurd... we need to get rid of that stupid and ugly turn lane and put in a nice landscaped median, maybe even with...

Re: New Riverfront Women's Soccer Stadium
Along those lines, To anyone that went: How full were all of the gravel lots around the stadium? Was there space? Completely filled? I worry that if they were full the owners will drag their feet on starting the development of those lots due to the ~$50 parking charges. Port Authority owns those lo...

Re: New Riverfront Women's Soccer Stadium
The stadium looks unfinished or something to me. I think the stadium is neat, but the exterior looks cheap or something. I'm sure it's fine. Just a first impression. It's a high school football stadium with a soccer roof. I have no idea where the $100+ million went. It's literally aluminum bleachers.

Re: Capping the Loop
Said all along this has no chance of opening prior to the world cup. They might start construction before the WC if they are lucky. How does MO have the money to widen I-70 across the entire state when most of it doesn't need it? I-70 only needs to be six lanes to Odessa for example. Widening it fr...

Besides 50+ years of history and both teams having “Kansas City” in their official names… the loss of tax revenue. The loss of synergy with KC etc. Shooting for gold, which is downtown baseball and ending up with suburban baseball- Travesty. Trying to extend the life of one of the most iconic NFL s...

Grand currently closed for the big12 as we approaching rush hour, Oak is essentially bumper to bumper traffic through the area. I can't imagine the shit show this would be right now if oak was closed.
Easily the street with the most traffic downtown on days when grand is closed

Does anyone with insider information have knowledge of any plans by the Royals to complete that CBA and release more details? They may be able to turn this bad perception around with a kick-ass promise to the community, but that’s probably what it will take if the fervor online and unanimous No-vot...
