Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

That’s not what the Royals proposed for EV though. The renderings released back then (EV vs NKC) were hotel, office and retail spaces if I remember right. Not a bar district to compete with PnL. The Current stadium is also Exhibit A of “its own new area” secluded on the riverfront. 11k people found ...

Re: New Riverfront Women's Soccer Stadium

how are most people accessing the stadium since there apparently isn't much parking? park in river market and walk down, uber, or what? I walked from the River Market starting at about 10am at the town of Kansas bridge. There was a solid stream of walkers ahead of me and behind me. The energy and e...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

“The Crossroads” has an overly large footprint, to acknowledge earlier posts asking to define the neighborhood as smaller than currently defined. The OG Crossroads was centered around Leedy-Voulkos at 20th and Baltimore. That said it has grown in the last 20 years and I think the center of “The Cros...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

So the plan is to ask for more taxpayer money to fund their retirement their costs that the public won’t be able to have an additional vote to approve?

I hope this is clearly communicated prior to April.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

The Royals renderings release didn’t exactly delineate who was going to fund what so I would lay at least partial responsibility for false information on the Royals and lack of information. I haven’t seen any follow up news conferences explaining things, maybe I missed it. Most people I talked to th...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

One ad aired during pre-game. It was a couple clips of Royals WS year and recent Chiefs followed by a “Vote Yes in April” slide. Not much to it and never would have noticed it if I wasn’t looking for it.

KCUR interviewed Gov Parson. Basically said stadium plans aren’t far enough along to include any funding from the state in his budget.

This line made me laugh. “National chain” with no locations….

Doesn’t sound too promising but but looks like it would be a nice addition if it happens.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

If I had any assurance that the Royals ownership would invest the taxpayer improvements into the quality of the team on the field I would be more open to whatever their preference may be. As it stands I have no faith that an East Crossroads stadium would improve the team and sustain attendance beyon...

Re: Proposed UMKC on campus arena.

wait a minute, an NHL team is playing in a 5000 seat capacity arena? How does that happen? I mean Cable Dahmer Arena is about the same capacity right? I do not follow hockey closely but I would think KC could easily get an NHL team if Coyotes are in a 5000 seat arena. Geesh. The Coyotes got booted ...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

- we are definitely talking in circles about the same stuff again following the recent news article about a single meeting about which zero real details are known - I prefer the EV site. Why? The Royals’ ownership group has stated an anticipated $1bil for the stadium “in partnership” with the county...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

You'll hear a Kansas play very soon. Already started. Fescoe on 610 sports was saying this morning that an anonymous stadium insider told him people need to stop thinking about this as a Royals only deal and you can’t separate out the Chiefs. If the Royals stay at Kaufman the Chiefs will look to mo...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Makes me a bigger fan of Madison Fitch. I’ve bought a couple things from their Stitch store and they have been excellent to deal with. I also have zero faith in some of the larger crossroads landowners to build garages. They will level buildings for surface lots before building a garage. I’m thinkin...

I would be curious to see a plan. I feel like this site was debated to death a few months ago too. Oak has several viable businesses (with more to come?? Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

The Royals must enhance their communication by emphasizing that the goal is to increase revenue in order to build a stronger team. They should provide a detailed comparison of how a downtown location can achieve this as opposed to the current one. I agree with most of what you said but feel that a ...

I am not familiar with them. Do you recommend them Fang? I thought it was a bit weird that their grand opening announcement for the new location was primarily telling us what is not available. Particularly lost points on their margarita mix being in backorder. A mix shouldn’t be needed for a good ma...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Arrowhead is known for the noise & atmosphere, not the outdoor weather elements-- the weather elements aren't impactful enough here to change the feel of Arrowhead at all. That's why it's stupid to base this decision around it. You can put a roof on the stadium and the noise level will still be...

I just walked by. There’s a drive thru. It’s in the small parking lot off 17th.
