The giant parking garage as the first impression is a nice touch.
i mean all of my "favorite" airports have a giant parking garage rammed up next to them. the one right on top of PDX is enormous.

Looks pretty lame. Like something that belongs in Oklahoma City or St Louis.
cincinnati or amarillo, prolly but yeah, 4m vs 15m passengers/year makes 100% sense.

almost anything is better guys.

this is our golden egg, glad to see more stuff in the pipeline since we are due a recession. historically, st. louis tends to bring up the rear of these economic expansions with re: to new construction and has a lot of stuff get caught in the door in the past going all the way back to art deco skysc...

i forgot how kind of weird (in a good way) both 65th (east of downtown BKS) and Gregory are to the east.

65th (again east of the main business district) is sort of getting a Seattle vibe from streetview.

Re: STL MLS proposal resurrection

i mean, there's a difference between enterprise the corporate entity not happy about a large rental car tax, and the extended taylor family wanting to invest their personal wealth into their hometown 15 years later. but yes, kind of ironic.

Re: Hyperloop between KC and STL

I'm onboard for anything that can take me between KC and StL in 30 minutes for less than the cost of driving. I'd go twice a year just to walk around looking at old buildings. 8) There is sort of. It has 6 wheels and 2 wings. It has a flight time of 30 minutes. Now if you use the IRS cost per mile,...

Re: STL MLS proposal resurrection

Any hope they could keep the Steamer's name? That would be awesome. Or any name, as opposed to what seems like the very lame trend for most new MLS teams to be "FC (city name)". I think I am one of the very few that is bothered by this. I like cheesy, fun american sports branding with diverse names...

Re: STL MLS proposal resurrection

I could also see the STL ownership wanting to be in the Eastern conference since STL has always considered itself part of the "East." From interactions I've had, there is an aversion to being considered anything in relation to the West other than the gateway to it. They will probably claim a bigger...

Re: STL MLS proposal resurrection

we have plenty of space in downtown west for this thing (unfortunately). Yep, that area west of Union Station (or just downtown west, in general) is definitely not "prime land". It is quite empty, and the interchange there now is essentially wasted space. Something like this stadium would be a mass...

Re: STL MLS proposal resurrection

Were there any discussions to repurpose the dome? Not that i'm aware of. In theory that seems logical, but unfortunately the dome would be wildly out of spec of the parameters that MLS is looking for. I would not want to attend a soccer game in a dome. That's where the repurposing comes in - remove...

Re: STL MLS proposal resurrection

the potential for a rivalry with kansas city is obvious and great for both cities... kc fans in particular will be able to board a train and be dropped off near this stadium in proper fashion.

this is also an area of downtown st. louis that could use ANY kind of shot in the arm.
