Re: Kansas City's Twin is Nashville says analysis
i don't know why i'm defending nashville but it's not THAT bad, you just need to know where to go (although the entire place is becoming swamped by basic bros from ohio REALLY into CRAFT BREWS and the sirius satellite radio alt nation station). admittedly, it looked much better during the deep reces...

The conversation wasn't about if all airports are great compared to STL, it was about if STL is a great airport. It is not.
the sentiment seems to be whipsawing between extremes...

Re: STL International Airport
Found this on UrbanSTL site. Posted there and thought it was pretty impressive. I fly back and forth from STL on Southwest and find the airport in STL very nice. It just feels like a big airport to me, especially flying out of KCI. Our new airport will help, but not sure if it will have that "...

Re: STL International Airport
I have never been in Lambert, but if PDX is the standard for impressive, I’m just not sure what in the fuck people are talking about. The only US airport I can ever remember enjoying was Honolulu. haha ok. i think folks are talking past each other. if i want impressive i'll go to the international ...

Re: STL International Airport
I surely wouldn't call STL impressive compared to PDX or something, except in it's ease of use. I really could not ask for more though out of a small/mid city airport except vastly more direct flights to europe, etc. i'm there in 12 minutes from home or work, it's clean, it has passable food/drink, ...

Re: Troost developments
That corridor (as well as some of the midtown Troost nodes) would absolutely explode if 2 things happened: redevelop the Landing site, and upgrade the Troost Max to true BRT. Troost is low hanging fruit for the first time in probably 50 years. i thought it was low hanging fruit when the sidewalks w...

minneapolis is probably a better comparison. denver is on a much more radical path than anything i’ve seen in the midwest and is changing by the month.

Re: We need a new airport!!!
I don’t think he’s saying that he thinks KC is ahead of STL. I think instead he is saying we should look up to our successful cousin, not our struggling sister. i sort of edited my post once i grasped that. just had a lumbar injection (slipped disc) and am a bit out of sorts. :  also, i pref...

Re: We need a new airport!!!
You aren't really describing rivals though....more like equals that aren't really equal...and in that case I'd hope we would be comparing ourselves tonliek a Denver....not stl i mean, we have a non-downtown studiogang tower in pre-construction site prep as of today...you really think st. louis is v...

they have to demolish a perfectly good 6 story brick building for it, which is a shame.

Re: Rankings, lists, and such
But is surprising they aren't keeping many higher educated, about same level as KC despite KC not being a major college town. columbus has to compete with quite a few more cities, including partially-resurgent rustbelt places like cleveland, corporate stalwarts like cincinnati, and of course indian...

Re: Rankings, lists, and such
sort of OT, but i think people (slightly) mis-characterize columbus as being like indianapolis (which i don't think has as much depth as kc) when it in fact does have some decent bones. http://thirdgrademapskills.weebly.com/uploads/2/4/4/1/24412832/7203520_orig.jpg http://thirdgrademapskills.weebly....

Re: Rankings, lists, and such
Is impressive KC area ranks relatively high with Bachelors+ degrees given no major universities directly in metro. Surprisingly higher than Columbus, which has one of largest schools. Few people want to live in Columbus or Lawrence. Kansas City’s a little bit more easy to stomach. few people want t...

Re: Unbuilt KC
It was supposed to be Bernstein-Rein's new HQ, and it started being built as a Moshe Safdie design, then the developer got in a fight with JE Dunn over something or other and construction stopped and the partially-built structure sat for a few years before being sold, torn down, and rebuilt to hous...

Announcing direct to Hawaii if approved (this is a joke) London? ;) well, missouri governor has been in london this month. i know that st. louis has been begging, screaming for direct london flights for a few years now. maybe kc, too? the nashville british airways deal may be on the rocks and i thi...
