Re: Troost developments

That corridor (as well as some of the midtown Troost nodes) would absolutely explode if 2 things happened: redevelop the Landing site, and upgrade the Troost Max to true BRT. Troost is low hanging fruit for the first time in probably 50 years. i thought it was low hanging fruit when the sidewalks w...

Re: We need a new airport!!!

minneapolis is probably a better comparison. denver is on a much more radical path than anything i’ve seen in the midwest and is changing by the month.

Re: We need a new airport!!!

I don’t think he’s saying that he thinks KC is ahead of STL. I think instead he is saying we should look up to our successful cousin, not our struggling sister. i sort of edited my post once i grasped that. just had a lumbar injection (slipped disc) and am a bit out of sorts. :  also, i pref...

Re: We need a new airport!!!

You aren't really describing rivals though....more like equals that aren't really equal...and in that case I'd hope we would be comparing ourselves tonliek a Denver....not stl i mean, we have a non-downtown studiogang tower in pre-construction site prep as of today...you really think st. louis is v...

they have to demolish a perfectly good 6 story brick building for it, which is a shame.

Re: Rankings, lists, and such

But is surprising they aren't keeping many higher educated, about same level as KC despite KC not being a major college town. columbus has to compete with quite a few more cities, including partially-resurgent rustbelt places like cleveland, corporate stalwarts like cincinnati, and of course indian...

Re: Rankings, lists, and such

sort of OT, but i think people (slightly) mis-characterize columbus as being like indianapolis (which i don't think has as much depth as kc) when it in fact does have some decent bones. http://thirdgrademapskills.weebly.com/uploads/2/4/4/1/24412832/7203520_orig.jpg http://thirdgrademapskills.weebly....

Re: Rankings, lists, and such

Is impressive KC area ranks relatively high with Bachelors+ degrees given no major universities directly in metro. Surprisingly higher than Columbus, which has one of largest schools. Few people want to live in Columbus or Lawrence. Kansas City’s a little bit more easy to stomach. few people want t...

Re: Unbuilt KC

It was supposed to be Bernstein-Rein's new HQ, and it started being built as a Moshe Safdie design, then the developer got in a fight with JE Dunn over something or other and construction stopped and the partially-built structure sat for a few years before being sold, torn down, and rebuilt to hous...

Announcing direct to Hawaii if approved (this is a joke) London? ;) well, missouri governor has been in london this month. i know that st. louis has been begging, screaming for direct london flights for a few years now. maybe kc, too? the nashville british airways deal may be on the rocks and i thi...

Re: Would you like to see the Royals move to a downtown stadium?

the cardinals have played in a non-downtown stadium for more years than they have ever been downtown, including a non-downtown busch stadium....for decades longer than the royals have even been in kansas city. <rolls eyes> To highlander's point, Busch II opened in what, 1966? Essentially, the cards...

Re: We need a new airport!!!

i think the illinois airport (mid america not the downtown airport) is really a quirk of pork belly type spending and the air force base connected to it. i don't think there was ever really a need for it, myself, except maybe when STL was a hub.

Re: KC to STL Hyperloop

i think it would be a good thing, if it were a realistic proposal. i think many people would love being able to live in the same place but be able to accept a job on the other side of the state. suddenly having the employment options of a 5 million person metro (or whatever) would be huge. it would ...

Re: Would you like to see the Royals move to a downtown stadium?

"If a motivational speaker at Municipal Auditorium is the worst it gets, then it can't be that bad." It was that traffic for the event along with the morning rush hour traffic. Traffic was more or less at a standstill. Not sure how the traffic was in the NE part of downtown but the west a...

Re: KC to STL Hyperloop

And we want to connect with St. Louis why? Why let them drag us down? i guess the kansas city metro focusing only on having a half-dysfunctional foot in kansas instead of a better connection to the primary economic driver in the state - the 1.3 million missourians in st. louis city and st. louis co...

it's basically an airport for cheap flights to the sunbelt (plus cargo) for illinois retirees and college kids from what i can tell. 157,000 passengers in 2016.

none..... I don't think they even have daily flights Update. They Average about 6/10ths a commercial flight a day(or just 4 per week). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bdzWhd459_A i think it's more than that, now. direct flights from the airport website: SANFORD/ORLANDO (SFB) TAMPA BAY/ST. PETE (PIE...
