Re: Would you like to see the Royals move to a downtown stadium?

i've always thought that a new stadium should be in the sort of south/southeast corner of the crossroads where there is an offensive amount of almost nothing but parking lots. it would be within walking distance of vastly underutilized, extant parking/parking garages and some transit, including now ...

The reopening of 100% of the new gateway arch national park is next tuesday, including the completely new underground museum and entrance - the result of well over 1/3 of a BILLION dollars in renovation, retrofitting, and new construction. Re: Berlin - Europe

Unfortunately, KC doesn't have the economic drivers that can produce anything close to the frenzy of activity Berlin has seen. i don't buy this...GDP of KC is comparable (although not sure what is being measured with regards to the geography of "metro" Berlin). american cities always have these ast...

Re: Divide MO into two states?

st. louis and (especially) kc should be centered inside their new states as the capitals.

the above map is probably a better arrangements that the current setup, though! at least both regions are fully within one state!

Re: Divide MO into two states?

No. The cities in the lower one third of Missouri provide economic value to the state. Branson is a tourist trap, Springfield has the 2nd largest university in the state, and Joplin is trying to make a comeback. Too much revenue would be lost. the ozarks are one of the consistently poorest parts of...

chouteau greenway design competition - st. louis

Great Rivers Greenway, which is the primary regional trails agency in st. louis launched a design competition not unlike what was done for the arch ground redesign for a once-and-for-all design of the chouteau greenway (which has been kicked around for years), which is to be the crown jewel/central ...

Re: Three Light

i dont think nashville has any kind of history of big civic works like midwestern cities do (not that transit votes are often any better but sometimes they are). i think this plan was overly ambitious, however. denver style jumbo-plans are not the way to go in most interior cities. chipping away at ...

Re: Three Light

also, the massive transit plan which they desperately need just got destroyed by a vote:

it's still has a bass-ackward metro region surrounding an overheated core.

Re: Three Light

nashville has shifted into ludicrous-speed development, i agree with the other post that people don't realize how much is happening there. i also think that that's potentially good for the lower midwest...nashville is really outgrowing its britches with terrible traffic, bro-sters just overrunning e...

Re: KC in TV and Movies

out of town obliviousness. Mostly that. I don't want to get too much into the details of this particular situation, but there seems to be an influx of out of town investors buying houses for rental properties in KC (also some doing flips). These seem to often be Bay Area people with more money than...

Re: Kansas City's Twin is Nashville says analysis

i don't know why i'm defending nashville but it's not THAT bad, you just need to know where to go (although the entire place is becoming swamped by basic bros from ohio REALLY into CRAFT BREWS and the sirius satellite radio alt nation station). admittedly, it looked much better during the deep reces...
