Re: Ballpark Village v4.7 (st. louis)

my shoot from the hip guess is that it will be a satellite of the mastercard tech headquarters, which has over 2500 employees. corporations in chicagoland do this when they have a split workforce of people who live an hour from downtown and a ton of reverse commuters.

Re: Ballpark Village v4.7 (st. louis)

speculation rampant that there is a company(s) currently in o'fallon, mo/ st. charles county that are considering a move into BPV. Border War, St. Louis style Mastercard? actually, could be...still just a big phat rumor. i always thought that those companies out there were just a bridge too far for...

the coast guard is considering closing st. louis harbor, which means the level is high enough to start backing up the missouri river.

Re: Ballpark Village v4.7 (st. louis)

three cranes over downtown st. louis is pretty surreal. used to seeing cranes over nashville like that but not (downtown) st. louis...its a good look! i'll be sad when they start taking down all of these cranes visible along I-64. there's like 7 of them right now between the arch and forest park and...

Re: OFFICIAL - Loews Convention Hotel (formerly Hyatt)

^ It depends on where your flight it coming from and the direction of the wind. When I fly into KC, I will often fly right over downtown and land from the south. I think you have about as good a chance of seeing downtown KC as you do seeing downtown St Louis. By the way, the flight from DC or Balti...

Re: More vacant homes, more violent crime? Small area of Kansas City sees most homicides

i feel like violent crime in kansas city is constantly downplayed, especially in relation to st. louis. "small area..." ok... Perhaps one difference is proximity of the average local to these areas/crimes. Yes, every now and again there is a shooting in Westport at 3AM or something, but the majorit...

Re: More vacant homes, more violent crime? Small area of Kansas City sees most homicides

I remember that Knockout Game a few years back where someone would randomly sucker punch a person, that kind of originated or became viral in St Louis - i don't think that Knockout Game ever spread to KC I also think crime gets covered up/buried by the news if it happens on the Plaza except in west...

Re: More vacant homes, more violent crime? Small area of Kansas City sees most homicides

11 percent of a 319 square mile city is a massive area, that's 35 square miles, or what would be over half of the city of st. louis. i feel like violent crime in kansas city is constantly downplayed, especially in relation to st. louis. "small area..." ok...

Re: High Speed Rail - someday?

Looks like California High Speed Rail is dead and the only line might be in the Central Valley. That's not dead, it's just truncated. It's a realization that state and federal funding hasn't materialized to build the system as proposed. A high speed rail going car centric cities in the Central Vall...

Re: High Speed Rail - someday?

to be sure, i would be happy with a better run version of the illinois high speed rail project between stl and kc...but see below for a problem holding up semi-high speed rail for now... IDOT spokesperson Guy Tridgell says faster speeds are coming soon. A section of the route between Springfield and...

Re: Westport

This makes me very sad for Westport. Seriously it should be decommissioned as a bar district ...leave Kelly's, Harry's, and one more and shut down the rest. i checked out johnny kaws on twitter and about bombed my keyboard with vomit. i really thought westport was going logan square / wicker park a...

i'm reading "american nations" right now and it feels very accurate on a macro-level. I appreciate the description of STL as a "border city" straddling the nations of Midlands and Appalachia. https://www.washingtonpost.com/pbox.php?url=http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/govbeat/files/2013/11/upina...

also, my understanding of american movement into missouri - following the settlement by the french creoles (based on my family history and others) is that the early waves of settlers, often from virginia like my ancestors, followed the rivers, and the ozark uplands were settled last - often picked o...
