Re: Tammy Faye Messner moving to KCK

My prayers are also with Tammy Feye Messner. A person of her stature being stricken down like that hurts.  Posted on: Yesterday at 08:21:32 PMPosted by: tat2kc  How can I say this without sounding harsh?  Stature?  Tammy is a mess and a phony.  IMO, most televagelists are crooks and narcissists. Wh...

Re: Tammy Faye Messner moving to KCK

Tammy Faye is dying, she doesn't even weigh 80 pounds. I don't think she's going to joining a "former celeb" compound. Personally, I'm sending good thoughts and prayers her way, and hope her final days are as peaceful and pain free as possible.

Re: Souperman

Alex and Dave make a good point. Once the P&L district is up and running, and the arena is active, then there will be a dramatic increase in both pedestrian and vehicular traffic.  The smaller businesses around the district and in the crossroads should look at this as an opportunity to pull in p...

Re: Drug Trade on Wyandotte in Wesport

Call the Star's watchdog reporter. Sad to say, but only if the issue is raised publicly will you get a response. And even that might not work. We have the same problem at Prospect and Independence Ave., and the police response was that they know what is happening at the intersection, but that they d...

Re: Immigrant influences and the positives and negatives of cultural diversity

Louisiana has two official languages: English and French. Many folks in south Louisiana are bilingual, both french/creole and English. A lot of cajuns my mom's age and mine don't speak English well at all, and they've been in the country for generations.

Re: OFFICIAL - Arena construction

It would make sense to not only have things in the paper to educate folks about what is happening downtown, and tips about parking, the max, etc., but they need to do the same thing with the folks that work downtown to the Plaza. We shouldn't assume that just because they are there for work that the...

its not the one day violation that is a problem, its the number of violations over the last several years. One more this year, and we are in violation of federal clean air regs, and the consequences could be pretty severe. http://www.thekansascitychannel.com/news/13513677/detail.html to quote the ar...

Re: New KCMO Parks Board

the community center on the west side was deplorable as soon as it opened. Needed tons of repairs immediately. The Liberty memorial almost collapsed while under the care of the parks board. The maintenance of the boulevards, whether its ward parkway or Grand, is completely under the jurisdiction of ...

Re: New KCMO Parks Board

The parks and the other amenities that come under the jurisdiction of the parks board are in sad shape, except for those that are now supported/maintained by private entities (the liberty memorial, swope, the zoo, and the parks within the loop. The only boulevard in good shape is Ward Parkway, and p...

Re: Light Rail down Independence Ave.

the #24 is a pretty busy route as it is, a fast streetcar line would be awesome; it could terminate at the max stop at 3rd street with no problem.  And Independence Ave. is being cleaned up: new streetscape from the Paseo almost to Benton Blvd. The new streetscape is very nice.  I think it would be ...

i absolutely love the contrast between the older brick buildings and the sleek style of the all glass arena.  its such a departure from a traditional building design.

Re: Lyric Opera operations moving to Crossroads

I always thought it would be a great space for non-profit performing arts groups to use for offices, meeting and performance space.  Gather in a lot of smaller groups to share space. They could not only have performances, but teach, and do a lot of commuity related activities.  Make it a real arts s...

Not only was she pulled over 3 times, but she was required to enter an alcohol program within 21 days of her arrest, which she didn't do. And she  hadn't paid the fine. As for public humiliation, being photographed in the back of a police car is part of the process of being arrested. Special treatme...

Re: OFFICIAL: East Village downtown neighborhood

I wonder what the value of the property is as of today? If its only a few hundred thousand, or a miilion or so, a jump to 17 million would be a huge jump in the bill. And its not like he can compain, by his own assertion, the property is worth 17 mill.  Anyone know what the tax bill would be on a 17...

Re: Paris Hilton already out of jail

While the fact that Paris is skank, and not newsworthy, the larger debate is newsworthy. Her sentence was reduced before she even started. And DESPITE the judges order to the contrary, law enforcement allowed her out in the middle of the night. Then, when ordered to appear in court, Paris decides, a...
