Re: OFFICIAL: Power & Light District

I'm not one to defend local tv news, but they are claiming "a lot of bars shut their doors early," and sighted McFadden's as an example.  Must be typical hype. btw...the 'shoes' interview is very funny.  One, McFadden's, closed early (10pm).  They had been open since 8am and their staff wa...

Re: OFFICIAL: Power & Light District

Anyone have additional details about this Fox story that bars in the Power & Light District closed early Monday night? http://www.myfoxkc.com/myfox/pages/Home/Detail;jsessionid=07776BD390F5EE251ADFC2B5E424867B?contentId=6062392&version=1&locale=EN-US&layoutCode=VSTY&pageId=1.1.1&...

It's great to hear others have had the same experience I've had with Royal Cleaners.  I've used them 6 several years.  They are very friendly people, and do an excellent job.  Shirts are 1.80, pants 4.95, sweaters 4.50.  They are also open Saturday 8-noon.

Re: Crown Center: urban disaster, shining star, or in-between

Here is the latest press release from Hallmark on the Cinema. Already home to two of the most esteemed live theatres in the region (Coterie and American Heartland), Crown Center will begin work later this year on a new performance arts facility, tentatively labeled Off Center Theatre. The theatre w...

Re: GO ROYALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now the Simpsons are mocking our Royals. Did anyone see the show tonight?  The Simpson family paid a visit to a run down 80s style Springfield mall, went into a almost empty book store, and on the shelf was a book called "The Kansas City Royals , Forever Champions."  I must admit, it made ...

I was also in Lidia's last night for my Mom's birthday dinner.  Great place to experience true northern Italian cuisine.  For a Sunday night, the place was packed.

Re: WetDesign Fountain for Crown Center

Pics for folks that haven't seen the fountain upgrade.  I like that it's pushed back further from the street.  I like the tile and the stone seats.  The brink work along the outside is nice.  Big improvement over the original fountain. http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h174/dkyo/PICT0034.jpg http://...

Re: royals young pitchers looking good this spring

he is not on the dl, i listened to 810 all day, they never said that. he is now the number 5 starter, and will start at AAA for 2 weeks. kietzman and buchaty were saying could they put him on the dl for being fat. they were joking. I thought that was what I heard about 15 minutes ago.  Where you li...

810 reports that Hernandez is on the DL due to stamina issues.  Very disappointing that he couldn't come to spring training in shape.

Re: Denvers T-REX/FasTracks Update

Paisstat, I understand.  I'm just pointing out that I don't think KC proper should be thought of as conservative or less liberal than Denver, in the political sense.  Voting 81% straight party Democrat is a slam dunk.  That said, these are just Jackson County numbers. Sorry folks - I didn't mean to ...

I thought the Irish fest was on Grand running through CC and in the fountain square area.  I don't recall them using the park.

Re: Denvers T-REX/FasTracks Update

Denver also seems to be more liberal - the city itself definitely is liberal leaning and at least a couple suburban counties also go blue in elections.  Although it's a big generalization, I think Conservatives tend to be less supportive of light rail.    While I can't quantify if KC is less libera...

Re: nimbys downtown?

i stand corrected.  can the WA residents vote out this square, suburba-board? Yes sir!  Currently, there are 3 board members.  One spot is up for election in 1 year, the second spot will be up in 2 years, and the final spot is up in 3 years.  The board is looking to change the bi-laws to expland t...

Re: nimbys downtown?

the Western Auto folks are trying to thwart The Cashew from getting a 3am liquor license.  they are apparently worried that a 3am license would cause a ruckus that would ruin their quality of life.  of course, their apartments are directly next to a giant railyard. Actually, it was thwarted by, a...

Re: Record Bar on Westport Road

Went last night for the first time to check out the Pony's (Chicago band).  Great venue to see live music!  I don't chase local bands down all that much, but I was really impressed with the Roman Numerals.  I only caught the last song the Belles played, and American Catastrophe was decent - they hav...

Re: David Dejesus A Royal For A Long Time TO Come

I look forward to DDJ Bobblehead nite next season.  :D I can't wait.  The Royals have such a rich heritage when it comes to CF.  I'm just glad we got the contract for our latest one squared away.  He is someone fans can root for, for years to come. I don't know why they gave up on Gotay already...

Check out page 2 of this pitch article.  First, he lists the phone numbers and email addresses for each committee member.  Tell them what you think.  Second, that picture of Buck with Descension is just bizarre.  I can only imagine what Buck is thinking in that photo. http://www.pitch.com/Issues/200...

I should be there, if the suite ticket comes through again.  The free ticket, food, and booze is great, but having to hang out with the client isn't my ideal way to watch a ball game.  They are good people though, so I really can't complain.
