Re: Freshwater - Midtown

How does one "install" new retail? Do you kick existing folks out? You build new neighborhood retail. Create walkable streets with patios, benches, places to gather. Restaurants, bakerys, pubs, shops. We need to slow things down to make it attractive. I guess I just don't see the room, de...

I honestly think anti density people would rather see the neighborhood completely rot, a ghost land/shell of a place as long as it preserves that historic feel The historic feel like Times Square once had with prostitution and crime? I'd rather take 1970's Deuce Crime then what we have today. I'm f...

The Guild does pretty well down there - . Maybe not QUITE as swank as that new place, but still high end event space. Berg and Orange aren't too far from there either.

Does anyone know anything about the new owner? The article has a very long explanation of the name but only says the new owner has 17 years in the industry but not where or in what capacity. Also not much about what the new place will be like other than cocktails and a few menu changes. Here's the ...

Now that the single terminal has passed, I am looking at a map of KCI in Google Maps and wondering how they will be able to construct the terminal while keeping operations going seamlessly. It just doesn't look like there is enough space unless they encroach upon KCI logistical support off Paris an...

They had a crossing guard to help at Valentine, but people were crossing 37th and 38th as well. People (and food trucks) parked on the Trafficway did help. I was concerned about those crossings, but it was pretty easy. I liked it better last year - but that may have a smuch to do with the weather as...

I did see they added Tom Green at the end of next March. In lieu of a band I want to see, I may use this as an excuse to see the place.

Re: Kansas City Music

In terms of tours booked in KC/Lawrence market, according to Pollstar it's pretty much on par for market size, maybe a bit more than some markets per capita. The article says we have more venues then some larger cities - like Min/Stl. So, maybe the ratio of shows-to-venues does mean it's harder for...

You can talk equitable societies and unicorns all you want - we still need to maintain our crumbling infrastructure and do what we can to keep US prisoners from suffering through third world squalor on a daily basis. I don't think anyone disagrees with you about our justice system - but I think mos...

I'm kind of thinking of a facility a la the Western Missouri Correctional Center and adjacent Crossroads Correctional Center, or the Potosi Correctional Center, Jefferson City Correctional Facility or South Central Correctional Center. As for location, we don't have a lot of polluted areas except i...

I always considered ND, SD, NE, KS and OK as the Great Plains or Plain States - not the Midwest.

MO is tricky. Western MO seems more like the Plains - the Eastern parts are more like the South.

Lines change. Lines do change, but Troost is the hardest line in this city, and it hasn't changed yet. (The biggest thing that could help that change, in my opinion, is much more development on Troost itself.) Troost doesn't really seem like a hard line anymore from downtown to 39th street. Maybe I...
