Hadn't heard about this,

Outpost Social Club, 1000 W. 25th St. By October

Looks to be same address as La Esquina?
I don't know La Esquina, but I was thinking this is the old Speak Deli space in that weird spot up on 25th.

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

Yes let's risk rank pedestrian dangers and start enforcing highest risk ones.... Scooter enforcement should come around 2023. I hear ya, but if there's zero enforcement for riding on sidewalks there WILL be backlash when these operators expand. It's happened everywhere else. I don't understand why ...

Re: Porchfest

The PorchFest organizer is not going to put the event on this year. Doesn't want to put in the labor of love required to do it. Seems unlikely anyone will have the time to pick up the ball since it is this late in the year. That's too bad, but I get it. Seems like a lot of work goes into that one. ...

Re: Status and future of the River Market area??

I'm sure they tried to get open asap but man talk about missing an opportunity Maybe they want to ease in a bit instead of going for three straight months of summer with no idea if they can meet demand, etc. for that long. Could actually a decent plan to start up the operation while mitigating the ...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

^Taubman mentions transitioning retail spaces to more restaurants but that's about it. They need to target much broader than that such as nightlife/cultural venues that target perhaps 40+. Like Highwoods, no mention of a neighborhood surrounding it, which Nichols always acknowledged and partly cate...

Re: KC in TV and Movies

Kind of an interesting KC-related tidbit from Wikipedia about the sitcom "Cheers" "Early discussions about the location of the show centered on Barstow, California, then Kansas City, Missouri. They eventually turned to the East Coast and finally Boston." That would have been interesting - tourists ...

Re: Google Maps renames neighborhoods, residents fume

The "Midtown Westport" neighborhood in the Roanoke/Volker area seems a bit off.

There is no Midtown designation anywhere. It looks like the area from Main to Gillham and 31st to Armour is lacking a name. That is an area I refer to as Midtown.

Re: Politics

Any thoughts about Tuesday's election? Right to Work/Prop A seems to be the biggest issue on the KCMO ballot. Also a Question regarding rental property inspections as well.

Obviously a ton of primaries as well.

Don't forget to vote Tuesday!

Yep, the entire district.
It's nice to see us finally recognizing the historical contributions of Insomnia Cookies and the role they played in keeping stoners nourished along the Santa Fe and Oregon Trails.

Re: Status and future of the River Market area??

the main issue for me would be them propping open the doors that lead to the residential areas. Not cool. And the garbage/rat issue. I've had that in my neighborhood when a food business moved into a place that hadn't had food before. To their credit, the city did help managing it and the problem w...

Re: Troost developments

Distrikt Biskuit House (I hate the spelling, but love the food) was supposed to be moving to 40th and Troost (NE corner), but it looks like that is off. I guess they're just going to share the Lutfi's spot on 63rd. It's only a morning operation, so it kind of makes sense.

Re: Status and future of the River Market area??

They are ruining RM with successful development and density? That is a new one.

Regardless, you can park anywhere east or west of Main Street from Union Station northward and just take the free streetcar if it's too hard to find a spot.

Re: Historic Preservation in the Urban Core

I took the Historic KC Endangered Homes tour a few years ago. The tour leader for that KCK neighborhood did not mince words when characterizing the owners. I don't remember specifics, but I remember having very little empathy for their situation.

Good luck to them. Such a great, old mansion. The owner should be drawn and quartered for letting it go to crap the last 40 years.

Don't forget our Mexican and Canadian partners!

And also don't forget the round of 32! 16 more knockout games is pretty exciting.

There are only 3 teams in each group, but there are twice as many groups. The overall count is up 16 mathces with the new format. I think.

Re: Misc Crossroads News

I just realized I was wrong about something on Oak that's a key detail and it explains a lot. US 71 to downtown didn't exist in 1997, it wasn't finished as a road until 2001, so it wasn't that long ago that Oak would have been used for inbound traffic from the south. Get off 71 at US 56, turn north...
