Re: Freshwater - Midtown

I went to a soft opening and stopped in for a few small plates last weekend. I think you nailed the review brewcrew. Good, but not great food (yet). Pricing makes it worth it. Service is very good. I think they will eventually use the back room as a bar. They have a bar there, but it's more of a ser...

Re: HopCat at Westport/Broadway

Yeah - great beer list with great local/regional selections. I thought they did a nice job with the rooftop deck as well. I'll also check out the Tiki bar in the basement at some point. I haven't eaten there - not really planning on it. They seem to be known for their french fries ("Crack Fries...

Re: HopCat/TikiCat at Westport/Broadway

So, I guess the downstairs of HopCat is now a Tiki Bar called TikiCat - According to Feast, it opened last week? Anyone been? https://www.tikicatkc.com/ http://www.feastmagazine.com/the-feed/kansas_city_news/article_25cdd1c2-205b-11e7-a920-5b4ae77e4a1a.html Is there still a "secret/backyard&quo...

Re: Would you like to see the Royals move to a downtown stadium?

The photo says Opening Day '55 - A's/Tigers. So, would have to be Municipal Stadium at 22nd and Brooklyn, I would think.

That is some crazy parking. Some of those cars are not going to be able to leave early to beat traffic.

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

I tried the form. Seemed to work well. Nice job! I think there will be some trial/error for matching exactly what the election board has on file for an address. You may want to adjust the error message to be a bit more prescriptive and instruct users to re-enter the address exactly as shown due to c...

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

At the end of the day, request a ballot and if you're in the district you'll get one and if you're not, you won't. At the end of the day, if someone thinks they live outside the boundry, they're not going to request a ballot. I'm in the sweetspot of your demo. I want this thing. I'm a relatively sa...

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

I just received an extensive, live phone survey for the Streetcar expansion. They asked a lot of questions - it was really interesting. In addition to the general questions regarding my general voting habits, demographics and opinions on local politicians, organizations and voting habits - they were...

Interesting. I've never been in the bank, but walking by and glancing in, I always thought they were Bentons. They look cool. Hopefully BOA can save them regardless of the fate of the building.

Re: beer.

I think Double Shift does a good job. They have a nice coffee stout and an unfiltered IPA I tried last weekend - enjoyed both.

All three breweries at 18th/Oak were crowded Saturday afternoon. Was good to see.

If you want to walk around there late at night, have at it. I value my own safety and will take an Uber.

Re: Westport's fate post-P&L

I know two separate groups of people that were mugged in Nutterville in 2014 and 2015. Maybe that has clouded my perception - or maybe they've made an effort to clean it up.

I still won't walk over there late at night.

That area is a big crime problem. Would be better off as residential, but I wouldn't hold my breath for for that to happen.

We better hope the state doesn't pass some bathroom bill because if they do, the tournament will certainly be gone. Where would they move it to? The open-minded states of Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, or West Virginia? Heck, even Iowa is a red state now. I guess they could move it to Colorado or Nevada ...

I believe there is a Benton mural in there. Or at least a mural that looks lke Benton's work. Not sure of its origin or history.

Re: Westport's fate post-P&L

Based on the photos above it looks like they already lopped off the eastern third of the building where the drive thru is.

But a rooftop bar would be nice in that location. Not sure I can picture a scenario where BOA leaves for a restaurant to take over.
