Re: Closed Bars and Restaurants

too bad. I really liked their old fashioned donuts. Better than most I’ve had. Didn’t love their cake donuts, but still thought they were good. It was overpriced IMO, but not terrible.

Re: favorite under-the-radar mexican places in the kansas city area?

Has anyone tried the Honduran restaurants in KCK? A couple have popped up. Tends to involve plantains and Baleadas (tortilla, refried beans in coconut oil). I think the Honduran spot at 13th and Central either used to or still does have a location on Independence Ave. I really like that spot. Sabor...

I think El Camino Real does that. Bichelmeyers too.

FWIW, I think most places probably do it that way - it's just a matter of what they're showing you.

I think Rico's has the best street tacos downtown. And $2 burritos on Thursday are the best/cheapest lunch deal around, IMO. I think they're only $3 normally.

I think they're underrated as well. It's good pizza. Decent lunch special as well.

Westport location is solid too - and I think they opened up in the old Snow & Co. in the xroads.

Did I miss a recent doxing drama? I was kind of wondering this as well but I figured my asking would lead to re-doxing Yea you did miss it. DaveKCMO turns out to be Dave Johnson. It was a big surprise for most of us here. Thought that was common knowledge. Was really hoping for something juicier. M...

Re: Black leaders seek to rename Paseo to MLK Blvd

Maybe we should just stop perpetuating this social racial divide? Maybe? Unless of course MLK Jr. fought for self-segregation. Then, by all means.. I'm sorry guys. You are right. The racial healing begins by telling the black community that a combination of community organization and due process ar...

Re: Black leaders seek to rename Paseo to MLK Blvd

..incredibly insulting to the black community. The Paseo is a boulevard in the heart of the KC black community. Maybe we should just stop perpetuating this social racial divide? Maybe? Unless of course MLK Jr. fought for self-segregation. Then, by all means.. I'm sorry guys. You are right. The raci...

Re: Black leaders seek to rename Paseo to MLK Blvd

I am against renaming The Paseo, it's a historic name. Why can't they just rename a number street or I-70? There are already 900 MLK streets/ bridges in the US anyways, everyone already knows who he is, why not rename a street for a local civil rights activist or someone like Medgar Evers who was a...

Re: Black leaders seek to rename Paseo to MLK Blvd

Not to be cold on the subject, but did MLK ever visit KC? He is a huge and important historic figure, but can't we promote the name of local civil rights figures that were important to our local history? I feel like we are playing copy-cat to every other metro in the U.S....and way late, I might ad...

Re: Black leaders seek to rename Paseo to MLK Blvd

Paseo is good for cyclists.

What will become of West Paseo? Will it be West MLK? Can it be The Paseo now? Or will it just fail to have any context?

Re: Fantasy Retrofits: Barney Allis Plaza

I'm all for having the Crossroads Academy downtown, but not inclined to pay for a dedicated playground for the students. The garden, even if just in a corner, seems like a missed opportunity, and the above-ground parking garage would decimate some amazing views. I'd love to see something along the ...

I agree. It seems odd to keep Bob Sullivan and give up on Peters. I hope we're at least getting a decent haul of draft picks for giving up a Pro Bowl caliber corner with three years left before free agency.

Re: Freshwater - Midtown

How does one "install" new retail? Do you kick existing folks out? You build new neighborhood retail. Create walkable streets with patios, benches, places to gather. Restaurants, bakerys, pubs, shops. We need to slow things down to make it attractive. I guess I just don't see the room, de...
