Re: New seafood on the Plaza

California Pizza Kitchen (the most prototypical chain/mall restaurant in the country) occupies a space formerly occupied by Houlihans (a decent, relatively local chain).  Not sure it that is the last replaced or if it really counts, but it's something.  I'm mostly just bitter that the Pizza Kitchen...

Re: New seafood on the Plaza

You forgot Fiorrellas. Grand St. isn't on the plaza.  I believe Mi Cocina is out of town backed.  Can we really call eden alley a "restaurant"?  Isn't Baja 600 in the process of be recycled into something else?  Regardless, it is nothing like the good ol'days.  I have no doubt that Highwo...

I agree with what bahua is saying 100%, and would add that "hanging with the big boys" shouldn't be measured solely on the number of new condo towers under construction.

Re: Opening Event of Sprint Center: OFFICIAL - Elton John

I used TicketBastard to see Third Eye Blind at the Uptown this summer.  $5 on a $30 ticket, something like that. The guy on the phone told me, " You could go to the Uptown and buy at the desk for regular price.  We show 15 tickets ".  I decided to pay the juice.  However, that was my choi...

Re: just how shady is midtown, esp. main and broadway?

i still cannot figure out why broadway and main are so shitty between 31st and westport road when there is a relatively affluent population of residents between those streets and very close by.  it seems odd that there are dozens of $200K-1M homes in the Hyde Park area but their neighborhood is fla...

Re: just how shady is midtown, esp. main and broadway?

Two things: 1)  You should be able to call HUD or somebody to report Section 8 problems, and they supposedly have a pretty strict policy with their renters. 2)  I was in Pancho's this Friday evening and it was shadier than I'd ever seen it.  Guys were exchanging large wads of cash inside the store a...
