Re: Topeka,ks Sears on the list

a sears in topeka is probably the most depressing place in america. ALL Sears stores are depressing. Hence, them going away. You would think they could have been competitive in Overland Park. There were rumors ten years ago about them building a store (and relocating?) in Corbin Park as I recall. B...

But Phase Two will fix all their problems, no doubt. When it is built in 2025.

Re: Town Center Plaza

Bringing this guy back from the grave since it's the only Town Center Plaza thread I could find. Dean & Deluca is slated to close May 21. There was an article in the Wichita paper about how Dean & Deluca stores are starting to close all over the country regardless of profitability and no on...

Re: Cinetopia sues AMC

I've been wondering if that (the AMC vs Cinetopia fight) had actually gone away. What is never mentioned when Cinetopia makes their case is the experience of going to a movie out there is such a pain. You have to navigate a huge parking garage, which surburbanites in particular seem to loathe. And t...

Re: Schlitterbahn Waterpark and Resort

From one of the most amazing, ambitious, and exciting plans on paper for the KC theme park, to this. The whole story would make a fascinating documentary. Really would like to know what happened to those ambitious plans (like the year-round indoor water rides) beyond the lame "the recession ha...

Re: Schlitterbahn Waterpark and Resort

The Co-Owner has been arrested in connection to the Verruckt death. I think there is a decent chance Schlitterbahn just pulls out of Kansas in the next couple years. They probably got a bunch of money to build the thing, why even bother with operating in another state when all your other locations ...

They keep scaling back this thing: https://www.kshb.com/news/local-news/developer-of-op-bluhawk-project-announces-205m-phase-1 An article in today's Star says the Cosmophere will be added "in a later phase." Boy, is that a common theme with these projects. The museum also seems smaller tha...

Re: Waterside Development

What a wasted opportunity - that area was initially proposed to house a Scheel's and hotels that would be connected to Schlitterbahn via boat or lazy river-type attraction. Ending up with Menard's, auto mall, etc. Oh yeah. It has "evolved" over the years. I half expect the Schlitterbahn t...

No. It's a new shopping center adjacent to Schlitterbahn in KCK, next door to the new Dairy Farmers of America headquarters.

Yes. Definitely looks like one. About time they broke ground on developing that area next to the waterpark.

Re: Oak Park Mall - Nordstrom Leaving

I wonder when the fourth floor of the men's store was walled off? I remember when they sold electronics up there. Kind of weird that they now have escalators to nowhere. I can't read the Biz Journal article but I could see someone like Alamo Drafthouse repurpose some of the space. Their theater in ...

Re: OFFICIAL: Zona Rosa (tenants & phase II)

I actually heard the theaters would be closing. Those are actually well-run and maintained. A shame that they have gotten a bad rep from the occasional problems with teens. It would be a big project to gut that building (again) to put something else in. I almost think they might try condos instead,...

Re: Schlitterbahn Waterpark and Resort

The Village South development won't have a convention center and hotel. Just a couple of new (smaller) hotels. The Wyandotte Daily article specifically says they are being looked at for Village South. Not to get too caught up in semantics, but I read "hotels and a conference center" diffe...

HomeGoods confirmed for Fresh Market space. Can't see the REI crowd shopping there much.
