Does anyone know what was happening last night in the River Market?
KCPD was all over the River Market last night from about 9:00 - 10:00 ... more cop cars than I've ever seen in one area, chopper with spotlight flying low canvassing the area. Does anyone know what was going on?

Re: Kansas City Officially Has A New Mayor - Mark Funkhouser
I just heard (from someone who knows) that Ed Wolf did not retire or resign to spend time with his family. He was asked to leave because his advice on repairing the relationship with city council members (post volunteer ordinance veto override) was no longer wanted.

She couldn't support it. She had already reached her deal with both teams -- she would support any stadium renovation plans put forward in exchange for their support for the Downtown Arena. It was a long term agreement.

Re: Kansas City Officially Has A New Mayor - Mark Funkhouser
I have absolutely no Psych 101 background, but I could't agree more. There is some serious emotional instability in both of these individuals...they invite, almost beg, for more drama. I think they both thrive on some strane delusional image of themeselves. Him, the persecution and her, being the ce...

Re: Kansas City Officially Has A New Mayor - Mark Funkhouser
Gloria is a grown woman, capable of making her own decision. She owes it to her husband to go home and stay home. She is his worst enemy. He shouldn't have to stand up to her, she should want him to be succesful and avoid unnecessary conflict. She is neither a noble, nor a loving wife. She is selfis...

Re: Matt Blunt NOT seeking Re-Election!
A lot of hard core Dem's don't even support Jay Nixon. It wouldn't be a total shock to see Robin Carnahan or another big-name D enter the race at this point and give the Democrats a legitimate primary. Jim Talent, Kenny Hulshoff or JoAnne Emerson would pulverize Nixon at this point. What is scary is...

Re: Kansas City Officially Has A New Mayor - Mark Funkhouser
If the Mayor would be a cheerleader for Kansas City on the national stage, outside investors might still be giving Kansas City a look. Instead he likes to criticize downtown, P&L and the Sprint Center as a mistake and "stupid" to any national reporter that will listen. Midwestern citi...

Re: Gloria is CRAZY!@!@@!
Obviously, everything is about being the Mayor. Did you read the letter? The letter is funny, yes. I think Gloria does have a unique sense of humor and they do have a strong relationship. Good for them. But this letter is also inappropriate. I would hope most (if not all) of us want the Mayor to rep...

One other thing...she writes, "being Mayor is much harder than WE could have imagined."
It just proves that she thinks she is Mayor.

Re: Gloria is CRAZY!@!@@!
So...it is OK and normal to write those things in a holiday letter? I'd like to see the kind of holiday letters you receive if you think this is normal. What woman writes that her husband's rectal exam is the highlight of her year and that she gets sadistic pleasure from it? His discomfort pleases h...

Ummm...this is 100% real, "folks". Go to the star's political blog, Prime Buzz. DeAnn Smith got it, as did a number of other reporters.

Very telling about the relationship between the Mayor and his wife.

The Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem are on a murder-suicide mission. No one wins. Least of all taxpayers and the City's reputation.

Re: Cauthen Speaks
I just spoke to someone close to the situation and the 9 council members who do not support the Mayor's move are attempting to organize their response and action for Thursday's Business Session. Lawyers are evaluating the charter and the Mayor's interpretation. It is quite possible that the Mayor do...

Re: Trader Joe's
The Chicago store was not that big, maybe a little bigger than Cellar Rat. It was well laid out and had a great produce and fresh food section, plus all the staples. And cheap. I'm in the River Market and can't help but think the Water Building would be a great location, but that's just me being sel...
