Agreed. Just looks a little like "here's a decent steak...side dishes consist of Cheetos and Funyans."

Re: Columbus Park Redevelopment

The article sounds nice, but why take on the expense of granite countertops if you're only providing basic/builder-grade fixtures/sinks and old-school (non-flat top) cooking surfaces????

Re: American Royal leaders propose tearing down Kemper

Meh...history and tradition are apparently passe. Too bad the folks at the Royal don't get it. Much of the allure of the West Bottoms party was an opportunity to congregate and party like hell in a very cool urban backdrop under overpasses amidst a sea of people and hickory smoke. A greenfield behin...

Re: Columbus Park Redevelopment

I don't understand the interest in big flat roofs on square shaped projects. They remind me of the Bin Laden compound.

Cruised through columbus park this week. Whoa...what the heck. A bunch of apartments and surface parking smack dab where common area could be.

Re: New Town at Harmony (Independence)

They tried this in Liberty eight years ago...after much fanfare and the topsy turvy real estate market, they bailed without returning to the table. Interesting they've picked an altogether different geography rather than returning to what they felt was the future of growth.

Golden Ox: Restaurants that have lasted 50+ years

The closing of the Golden Ox caused me to ponder how many restaurants in KC have truly stood the tests of time, trends and changes in tastes. Aside from Strouds and Bryant's, what other food joints have survived 50+ years?

Re: KC invited to bid for GOP National Convention

Was anyone convinced that Sly's dance on the Wheeler tarmac to the tune of a high school marching band and milkshakes at Winstead's was really going to WOW anyone? "Welcome to Kansas City, these kids done be practicin' their horn blowin' for y'all. Now let's go to Steak n' Shake!"

Re: beer.

Anyone else tried the 2013 batch of Bob's 47? It's typically my favorite local brew of the year, but the sixer I picked up this week seems a tad on the bitter side and frankly, not up to par with years past. Perhaps my local booze shop mishandled it. Anyone else have a 2013 experience?
