I think there's also a shift in alcohol consumption in general. There are always those that want to be "ragin drunk and havin a good time," but there has been a shift in the ways that people consume alcohol. Younger crowds (OMG I can't believe I said that) are more conscious of being expos...

Re: Is KC Tenants destroying the development future of downtown KCMO?

There's a discussion tomorrow morning at the Plaza Library at 10 AM hosted by the KC Regional Housing Alliance regarding the recently passed SOI restrictions and the effort at the state legislature to overturn it. I'm sure KCT policies as a whole will be heavily discussed. Lots of noteworthy speake...

Kansas City flunked its Spanish test. A proposed ordinance aims to bridge City Hall’s language gap One in 20 Kansas City residents have limited proficiency in English. A proposed change would force City Hall to use languages they understand. https://kcbeacon.org/stories/2024/02/09/kc-language-acces...

i'm gonna zag here. they'll probably stick a huge poster on the att building like they do at the mainmark. i'm picturing the biggest jungle law ad known to man. i am 100% down for that. Surely they can get into a three-way bidding war with Brad Bradshaw and Mike, who I understand has "got this...

Re: Fantasy Retrofits: Barney Allis Plaza

Muehlebach needs to reopen as a hotel. It’s more of a stereotypical historic NYC hotel than anything in NYC at this point. Should be our most famous hotel. Marriott runs historic properties, so why not reopen it as one of their boutique historic style properties? It can still be interconnected to t...

I actually went to the port's website and educated myself. I really had no idea that they were doing that much stuff to get it up and running. Again, thank you all for your insight.

Re: Southmoreland

Thanks all. I really appreciate the thoughtful answers. I think I struggle w/ how the neighborhood and city have dealt with this. If the city wants it protected, then they should unburden the brothers and give them the money they seek to be rid of the property. Just my humble opinion. It truly is a ...

What exactly comes through the port in KC? I didn't think it was big enough to handle a lot of tonnage...?

Re: Southmoreland

Perhaps the Council should just vote NOW on whether they would or wouldn't agree to rezone the parcel BEFORE the demolition. If the owners don't get a commercial rezoning approved, then Birt's offer would be moot anyway and they could just put it on the residential market. That's the fastest way to...

Re: Old KCPS HQ - 12th & McGee

So as I was taking a break from my normal day to day, I stumbled across this development in Atlanta. My question is: could KC do something like this on this site? If I recall The View and The Manhattan were teacher/workforce housing at one point (or I may have made that up and apologies if I did), s...

I keep getting a flashy "sponsored ad" for this tower on instagram, which surprises me given their litigation troubles and the continued push-back of their TIF hearing.

Of those flags, which one(s) would add the most bang for the city's buck (marketing, tourist choice, stay-cations for locals, etc...)?
