Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

I didn't have any real beef with the scooter riders until today when I was driving back to work from getting my hair cut. I really think they need to be banned on Main from 12th to 20th. The traffic lanes are just too narrow to be able to get around them safely and the streetcar tracks are a scoote...

Segway tours seem to not illicit such anger.... Guess it's just the sheer number of scooters (and we haven't got started yet)
12.5 mph max. probably because they're so rare and rarely seen

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

So there is an article in the KC BJ about purchasing 9 more streetcars for the extensions. Actually 11 I guess when you include the two on order for the current line. I'm just wondering if they plan to build a major expansion of the maintenance facility or will they build another facility in a diff...

Yes let's risk rank pedestrian dangers and start enforcing highest risk ones.... Scooter enforcement should come around 2023. I hear ya, but if there's zero enforcement for riding on sidewalks there WILL be backlash when these operators expand. It's happened everywhere else. I don't understand why ...

Call scooters a catalyst for general change. They’re highlighting how a lack of effort to provide the third ti...

probably. as before, there are penalties for the manufacturer being late.

It's a literal design reuse that was originally created for a suburban spot right next to the freeway in Minneapolis.
It's why it's so bad.

Look at how long it took the Northland to take off. Johnson and Clay were nearly the same size until 1940 when JoCo took off. The early development was actually all east and south for the longest time. You can see this in the fancy homes along Swope Park towards the southeast, the streetcar lines h...

Omitting the Baltimore/Wyandotte block might mean the remaining 3 blocks would not require expensive exhaust systems? Also that block along with the adjoining 2 empty bldngs on 14th might be the site for a smaller exhibition hall linked with the total convention complex. I hadn't thought that the 4...

Is 'Forgotten Homes' (just east of Paseo West) real? No one calls the riverfront 'Columbus Park Industrial Forgotten Homes is 9th to I-70, Brooklyn to Woodland. Years ago I found an old PDF that has 240 neighborhoods from before much of the northland Shoal Creek development. It’s very useful for so...

The "Midtown Westport" neighborhood in the Roanoke/Volker area seems a bit off. There is no Midtown designation anywhere. It looks like the area from Main to Gillham and 31st to Armour is lacking a name. That is an area I refer to as Midtown. You would be on the extreme small size for that definiti...

What other data do you want them to collect.? The officer doesn’t need to see a person’s disability situation as contributing to check a box stating they’re disabled. But if there’s continued accidents involving people with disabilities near a nursing home it shows a trend in an area of an at risk ...

Barking up the wrong tree with this. Please stop.
That's your opinion. There's other people who think that there needs to be more focus on not blaming pedestrians in accident reports and gathering better data on the type of pedestrian is a first step.

Re: Making downtown more pedestrian friendly

All that form says is documenting if a pedestrian was involved or not. If no pedestrians, they check N/A, if there is, they choose if it was someone that has specific laws against being hit. KCPD deserves a lot of ragging but this isn't one of them. Bothering them on this isn't helping our cause. I...

The police department has no enforcement over the usage of bike lanes? This seem like a problem.
Too much of city code around bikes and pedestrians date to the mid 1980s and this is far from the best example of ancient items in city code.
