Re: KCMO proposes changes to public engagement process

The city has neighborhood associations on some of it's lists that don't even exist. I don't trust them to know who to notify at all. If something requires public comment it should be 30 days before. Not everything should require a notice for public content, we let people give input on too many thing...

You can take the streetcar to the streetcar. The streetcar stops at the streetcar. The streetcar is at stop for the streetcar. You can meet at the streetcar and go to the streetcar. You can meet at the streetcar to go to the streetcar. You can watch the streetcar moving from inside the streetcar, ou...

Re: Kansas, Missouri battle over companies

I was thinking that the companies, and CEOs, are operating in California, and just not happy about it relative to other states. It doesn't mean they are going to pull out of California though because that might be one of their primary markets. It happens at some levels. My employer moved their nati...

Re: Next Mayor 2019

Didnt Reed lie about having a degree? I'd hide from his endorsement. He walked at the graduation. Reed legitimately thought that he had earned the degree(and IIRC he pretty much had minus 1 class) Ha! No, he knew. There's no way he couldn't know. He's about my age and in college students were told ...

Re: Bike Lanes

Burlington work is supposed to begin next year. I'm 95% certain they're removing a lane of parking for biking. Hopefully it's the parking on the northbound side, though it'd be great if all the on-Burlington parking went away. Yes, NB. It will come with bus stop improvements too as I recall.

Re: Bike Lanes

North KC is developing a Master Bike Plan . Any bets on whether they adopt their plan before KCMO? They're going to leapfrog everyone in terms of the type of projects going in. Burlington work is supposed to begin next year. I'm 95% certain they're removing a lane of parking for biking. On a Modot ...

They could expand it to Penn Valley Park. I hear there's a bus tax that can help fund these kind of projects.

Re: The KCMO School District

The lottery system is going to create problems as long as it exists because it encourages false ownership of a community resource NKC schools is neighborhood based and it's maintained it's graduation rate as the district has grown more diverse. Changes to boundaries are based on the overall area pop...

Re: Bike Lanes

Isn't the visibility problem directly tied to the neighborhood handwringing any reduction in street parking? Yes, and the city is all-too-willing to oblige. Same applies to Crossroads: Dozens of intersections with cars legally parked too close to the intersection (less than 30 feet), thus creating ...

Re: Bike Lanes

Besides, its not entirely clear the sight lines were the problem rather than speed. Speed and sight lines are connected. For example on some cross streets, for the E-W traffic, a car legally waiting behind the stop line/crosswalk is hidden by a building until they're starting to cross. You have the...

Here's the full list. https://chiefexecutive.net/2019-best-worst-for-states-business/ It's interesting in context of year over year but their methodology is a survey of CEOs, probably who subscribe to the magazine. California is way down at the bottom of the list but at one point this year 3/4 of ne...

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar

I could see running five or six at the absolute busiest times like Big 12. I can see how this can't be sustained full time but having a plan to run more at the biggest events makes sense to me. Not without significant changes in how traffic moves along the alignment. I picture having no car zones d...

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar

So a buddy of mine that lives in OKC said they are already expanding their 4.6 mile initial line and have ordered 2 more streetcars. I don't understand why our extensions are taking forever to materialize. Also their main 4.6 mile line cost $136M or so? Seems our 2.2 mile line cost at least that mu...
