Why is left hand turns an issue? Don't many intersections on Main already restrict left turns during rush hour?

Three intersections only and not both directions necessarily

43rd NB is all day- 7am to 6pm M-F
40th NB is 7-9 and 4-6, SB is 4-6 M-F
Westport Rd NB is 7-9, 4-6 M-F

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

I have never understood how you can support self governance and be against outside control , then attack 1.local groups trying to better their areas and 2. Local groups in locations far from you. I do. They're egotistical hypocrites interested in playing games with the lives of others in order to f...

Re: Historic Old Northeast

No . Saying no doesn't change that 90% of the land inside KCMO is suburban styles. Waldo is a suburb, so is Brookside. You can't point to a handful of towers and calll them urban because old Overland Park looks much the same in density with a handful of taller buildings. To the east The Paseo Indus...

Re: Historic Old Northeast

This is absolutely not suburban. It has all the hallmarks of a suburb, you even have a good self-definition to work off of. http://pendletonheights.org/about/ "Pendleton Heights was developed as Kansas City’s first suburb" NKC is as dense as parts of the historic NE in terms of homes and ...

It is a suburban area. Single family homes, apartments, short commercial buildings, parking lots serving small buildings

There's a part of city code specifically targeted to maintaining parking at higher amounts in the crossroads.

Redistrict new map

You can see the population trends in the district. They pulled all of the crossroads out of the rest of downtown.

This should be closely mirrored in council redistricting in 2021.

Re: Black leaders seek to rename Paseo to MLK Blvd

If only the leaders cared enough to recognize a local civil rights leader. Wasn't Cleaver a local civil rights leader before becoming mayor? He founded a local branch of the civil rights group MLK was the first leader of, the SCLC, so without a doubt yes. But he rose to prominence in politics which...

Re: Phase Three Streetcar Expansion

"Nearly all midtown density arose in the bus era?" I don't think so. The bus era began after WWII. Much of what would consider midtown density would have been built between 1925 and WWII. When the streetcars began to go is when midtown began to have more parking lots and not much was buil...

Re: Downtown Masterplan

New apartments? WTF are you talking about? The trench. Yes, it is skinner. That's why I said OVER the trench. The highway running under. You have a distinct lack of appreciation of how big a professional stadium is and how small the freeway is in comparison. The freeway trench is 150 to 175 feet wi...

Re: Downtown Masterplan

Love it. If I was granted only one wish for DT it would be moving 35 off of SW Trafficway. Not my second wish but I would build a stadium (rolling roof), west of Bartle, over the highway trench, so it could be leveraged for convention space. City views would be great too. Tear down brand new apartm...

Re: We need a new airport!!!

I think the argument that they couldn't have expected #3 is horse crap. That's their job and they've build new terminals before and thus should have understood the FAA wanted them to wait until environmental studies were complete. So, I can foresee 4-6 months delay for 1 and 2 but not for the FAA o...

Re: Phase Three Streetcar Expansion

There's some interesting historic info in this atlas around density. It shows just how much the streetcar enabled suburban living and how aside from downtown, how much of the density we have today came to the urban core after the streetcar began declining. Nearly all of midtown density arose in the ...
