Did you have any thought on the topic of downtown amenities that can happen? Or is your goal to provide a list of things that can't be done?beautyfromashes wrote: ↑Thu Nov 18, 2021 3:32 pm Oh, wow, you actually took that very seriously and put some thought into why it couldn't happen.

Re: Amenities missing from downtown
Could almost put a Target in the W&R space. Sure have enough parking in that building. Why would Target locate halfway up a building and have to move their pallets up a freight elevator all day every day? We're talking about them wanting to empty a semi in less than an hour and the truck wouldn...

Re: Amenities missing from downtown
The recent article on KC Target made it sound to me like they want a larger location here. Too much space required than Lightwell has and all I had forgot about that piece, so I found it quoted here and it mentioned nothing about size being the problem. It says they didn’t move in over *location* i...

Re: Amenities missing from downtown
CVS is closing 900 locations, nearly 10%, claiming mainly due to outdated and overlapping stores. Hopefully DT store won't be impacted given recently updated and distant enough from others. Target/CVS have some form of a partnership so if Target selected a DT site, perhaps one potential scenario is...

Re: Politics
Nice Gandhi quote that’s still relevant today in politics. Really describes the problem so many have with politics even when they agree with the goals. "If the means employed are impure, the change will not be in the direction of progress but very likely in the opposite. Only a change brought a...

Daily Toronto service launching in May 2022. Returning, technically. Its Air Canada. They pulled out of the city in March 2020 when borders closed and are coming back with the same level of service as they had before https://fox4kc.com/business/air-canada-to-bring-nonstop-flights-from-kansas-city-t...

Re: KCI Flight Schedule Adjustments
I’m not saying they would ever do something for a week of travel, but if we’re on the border if kc had incentives to give out. It feels like an opportunity with a new terminal and a big event to really lock in frequent travelers. I understood. I'm saying the two won't be connected in any way. World...

Well glad it's got our attention as the longer the system gets the bigger impacts these will be. I have no idea what happens to the actual towing I just know the tow trucks have shown up first which is all I was saying, calling a tow truck and getting them there isn't the issue, hence having RideKC...

Re: KCI Flight Schedule Adjustments
My knowledge here is very limited. If kc were to get the wc, is there an incentive structure that would make sense simply to begin ahead of time? I presume it’d be incredibly difficult to add these flights quickly, but a delta/Aeromexico/af/klm direct network would be lucrative and useful. I wouldn...

The execs all lived out in loch loyd and were allergic to urban offices. Don’t think that’s changed. Basically the same execs opened a business downtown, then called Sporting Innovations. I think it comes down to tax dollars and the cheapest possible land. They picked sites based on cost and didn't...

Re: KCI Flight Schedule Adjustments
As I understand it, Delta has a limited number of widebodies to work with over the next few years. AF/KLM would have to fly the route and they don't do much flying outside of big cities. There’s an interesting opportunity in Virgin Atlantic’s for London service and they expand opportunities in the ...

Re: Whataburger
It’s nice that a chain decided to move into the KC market. I question using “exclusive” as an adjective but whatever. Could care less about where it is in town as well. I think it’s the blatant marketing that our media is essentially giving out free (?) ad time by covering it. Are you sure it's fre...

Don't get me wrong: I love the Streetcar! Bonus points for it being free. Great selling point to tourists. But I wouldn't place "things to do in KC" list because I don't view it as being uniquely Kansas City. Our unique exhibit is the national WW1 museum. The rest you can find some local ...

Re: OFFICIAL - Buck O'Neil Bridge
Walked around area Sunday while construction idle. Some impressions: the amount of area this is eating up is huge, so little left of the already remnant of the neighborhood they might as well have bought out the remaining buildings to put the owners out of their misery. Judging from the erected pyl...

Re: Affordable Housing
There's one interesting item missing from their argument. Localized impacts and the impact of distance and transportation on cost They point out there's a glut of rentals nationally. But they don't mention if the rentals are where people want to live at. If there's 500 empty affordable rentals in Wa...

28. KC Streetcar Nothing against the streetcar, but who visits another city just so they can ride a streetcar? This list isn't *just* visiting to do something. This is making an effort to do something about a list of other items. We flew into Portland to head to the coast. I didn't quite manage to ...
