Re: West 39th Street Apartments

It's hard to imagine a neighborhood sitting down with a developer to discuss unit pricing. I can imagine it. There was a recent star piece about one neighborhood near downtown not wanting to price out existing residents when new homes were coming in. People were worried they were going to lose mult...

Grand was functionally truncated in 1857 when Union Cemetary was founded.

The city didn't go south of 9th St until two years after the cemetery was founded. Keep in mind that until 1910, the Cemetery went all the way to Main.

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar

It's hard, there's no doubt about it. I figure there's several million possible paths across downtown and there's no possible way to manually tune downtown to handle any of them. Our problems come from trying to do too much manually. The real smart city doesn't care about who someone is or if they'r...

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar

So.... what you're saying is this smart city thing could be beneficial after all. /s Not sarcastically, yes, if we think big enough. One street of changes won't help as we've seen. We need traffic control on 200+ blocks downtown all at once. This isn't hard to picture. Take a map of downtown, take ...

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar

We don't want signal priority, we want OGL enabled downtown so the whole area can be managed as one We need to speed up leaving Main and slow down turning onto it. Who cares if it gets a green light at 7th if it has to wait at 14th because the cars turning left onto Truman back up into the through l...

Sly at least showed an understanding that they're a business, not an art gallery or film festival. Buying and reviewing products is central to their mission.

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar

Across an entire day I would bet your experience is in the minority. Next time carry 40 pounds (groceries) and see if you can do that Just last Friday I hopped on at 3rd at around 3:30pm, got off at 14th, walked over to two blocks Grand to see the bike lanes, north one block to the P&L cut over ...

50th? I never believed Brownback's governing style and tax philosophy would lead to good things, but 50th is literally the worst you can do. Turns out Ayn Rand was an idiot. Obviously Brownback's economic policies were destructive across the board but I wonder how much the "Border War" co...

Re: The KC City Flag

KC I would give, the letter pairing is very well known nationally from baseball and football logos including them. But it could be a different letter pairing, something unique for the flag I would put a black KC right in the middle and find some colors that symbolize the city. With the historic rela...

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar

start charging and I will never ride the streetcar again. Just being honest. I'm not paying for 1/2 mile ride that I can walk in 5 minutes. If it went to the plaza/airport/stadiums/etc then I would consider paying, but I would never pay for the current line. Exaggerate much? Since you're clearly wa...

Hopefully they still put the angled accent piece on top like the rendering. Doesn't look bad without it, just seems like it would even it out a little bit. It's in the image on their website, that seems like it means it's more likely to be added than not. It doens't look structural so it could be p...

Re: Misc Crossroads News

Just wanted to say it is totally so sad what has happened to the East Crossroads since the streetcar was built. Everything you think is happening is a lie. There is only the appearance that momentum in the area has actually increased since the streetcar was completed. In reality, things are dire an...

Re: Amazon searching for second HQ

Here's my favorite location. It's a midtown location. Between Gillham and Main and Linwood and 34th terrace. It would be a great location and Amazon would be a huge improvement over what's there now. (albeit traffic may be a bit of an issue with no nearby interstate) Why do people hate the school d...

Re: KC to STL Hyperloop

The economic difference between this and other modes of transport is that it potentially could have departures 24/7. They are projecting being able to launch a pod a minute. More like a tollway. So much higher capacity = lower per ride fees. In urban areas, it will most likely be underground. With ...

it would probably boost real estate values through the roof in many areas of kc and st. louis. Only on the edge of the city. Think of how hard it would be to get this thing much closer than Blue Springs. This isn't going down the middle of I-70 all the way to downtown for the same reason we don't h...

Re: We need a new airport!!!

That's all Allegiant. It basically shows how realistic it is for a small airport in JoCo to gain an airline that crosses the whole country. It happened in St. Louis, they're not based out of Lambert too. Between Denver, Chicago, Dallas and Atlanta they serve at least 20 small towns that KCI has zero...
