Re: Bob Allen Ford

Great googly moogly, I made the mistake of reading comments in that Facebook group. Did you know the Target by Oak Park Mall isn't safe because Kelsey Smith was kidnapped from there... almost 12 years ago? I don't think anyone in that group will be happy until they rebuild and reopen Metcalf South ...

Re: Misc Crossroads News

7 floors is about the point when stick framing ends. Going higher makes it more likely they become luxury apartments.

With all the options for engineered and laminated wood like CLT already mentioned they can build some really ecologically friendly wooden structures using all the wood of a tree.

The 80-20 rule and transportation policy

As we know there’s thousands of needy projects around transportation, Not everything can be funded. Just my neighborhood needs tens of millions in sidewalks and there’s a hundred neighborhoods in the same situation The 80-20 rule says 80% of effects come from 20% of causes and if you find what this ...

Re: 1800 Walnut

City code 70-39. It falls under a traffic control permit. I'm assuming 100 feet closed A 100 foot section of sidewalk is 0.67 per 20 feet for $3.35 per day. That's the value of every pedestrian who uses that block to the city. If they close a lane of road too it drops to $1.67 per day. For the road ...

Re: OFFICIAL - 909 Walnut

new owners apparently think they can get rents up 18% on average over the next 3 years and are looking to extract money out of the ground level by adding a bar that's open to the public. I really like the idea of opening some of the building up to the public. Wish the P&L building would do the some...

This building is in the big Opportunity Zone. Are we betting on multifamily? Maybe mixes income?
It has big floorplates compared to a lot of the new office space we're building. Since we know how in demand larger floors are I'm betting it stays office space.

People will forget about the old terminal within 5 minutes of being in the new one.

JUST not having dropoff and pickup intermingled will do it.

Re: AT&T Building Renovation, 8th Street and Locust

One of the ugliest buildings downtown, but says something that AT&T would rather move their downtown employees to Brookside(ish) rather than moving employees downtown. Maybe they had a sweet offer on the building. Not remotely Brooksideish. The office is closer to Prospect than Troost. It's distanc...

The idea that this would get people to move to the area will never happen if the schools don't gain a better reputation.

If true, lawsuits can go concurrent to construction so it must have been big enough to delay the project financially.

Do we know if the elevated crossing is an entry into Bartle or just to cross the street? I forget which is the case.

You're next, church Save the Plaza people need to be run out of town first. Yeah! Then we can just demolish the whole plaza!! Who needs those dumb old Spanish towers anyway. Re: Sidewalk snow removal/enforcement

Sidewalk clearing enforcement continues to lag and city policy has bike lanes as unimportant to clear compared to car lanes, defeating the purpose of having a separate lane. Continue to report issues to the city to 311 and modot. The more tickets that get reported the more the issue will be focused ...

Two running against her Nope 11 or 12 running for mayor. Chastain got a distant third last time. With so many well known names he's at least going to be in 7th place. Three current council members are running unopposed, one replacement member is as well. A full third of the council is effectively a...

I predict 10000 people will get there via scooter.

190026, 27 and 28 is a trio of bills to issue $2 billion in airport revenue bonds.

There's only two signs that could be better

Approval to build from the airlines and government.

Re: Would you like to see the Royals move to a downtown stadium?

To move 10,000 people in 60 minutes takes 20 trains departing every 60 seconds. The existing stadiums and parking takes up 220 acres The entire area between HyVee Arena and 670 (excluding the train tracks) is 110 acres. If parking isn't added we need transit of course. 150 people per train. Let's sa...

There is so much talk about automated cars recently with Tesla and others working in self driving. I’m surprised that airplanes haven’t also seen movement in this direction. This would eliminate pilot cost and allow automated air traffic control systems. The cost would probably be paid for by the e...
