Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

One problem I I fell into is thinking too much in 2D. How do the stop placements work in terms shapes centered on top of them? (I used diamonds for comparison simplicity, easy to show E-W the same as N-S) Small diamonds https://drive.google.com/open?id=1I9I5LKj9zPl5LgMVz-L0qhaUvdUOWYN7&usp=shari...

Re: Phase Three Streetcar Expansion

I'd only support that if 71 was getting downgraded. I'd rather pay more to have it be somewhere else and have the possibility for good TOD and high ridership. need to be careful here, last thing wanted is to take everyone taking 71 into downtown and move them to 435 into JoCo and a lot of people wo...

No, it's not.

When you move into a condo building with maintenance costs you are responsible for all repairs. Fancy tile work, expensive wood work or special sign it's all the same.

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

Let's ignore street location and focus on minimizing the walking distance for the most people Pershing is 24th 3 blocks to 27th 5.5 blocks to Linwood is 32.5th 2.5 blocks to Armour is 35th. 4 blocks to 39th 4 blocks to 43rd 2 blocks to 45th 2 blocks to 47th 4 blocks to 51st so the largest gap is 27t...

It's not quite as obvious as the hotel but the Children's Mercy project is moving along.

Today they're moving materials or equipment onto the roof level of the garage and have forms up for new walls onto another part of the complex.

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

Just have both the Linwood and 31st stops. Not worth pissing off a large group of supporters just to cut one stop, especially since either are better than the 45st St stop. Just have one long stop serving both streets better. Why does the train need to stop a block apart to make a small number of p...

Re: Black leaders seek to rename Paseo to MLK Blvd

I think it's up to the people who live along it. I bet most of the people who have complained about the name change on the Star's comments, facebook, ect, had never even heard of the paseo before this idea was put forward. Even if they had heard of it, how many years has it been since they were on ...

Re: Black leaders seek to rename Paseo to MLK Blvd

I have nothing fundemantally against a road being named for MLK. I just don't get why two things 1. Why is this the only street worth renaming? Would "not the Paseo, let's find a different street" be an acceptable choice? 2. Why only MLK? Are they thinking too small with just one person ho...

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

I don't think our current cars are capable of being coupled together. I think a modification to the coupling system would be required. Would still be cheaper than buying all new trains. Coupling is possible with a vehicle modification. They are light rail vehicles, after all. However, you'd have to...

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

Will we purchase any of the longer Urbos 3's(higher capacity) or just lots of small ones(higher frequency)? There's no reason it has to be either or. The best way would be to buy more of the same size and run them coupled together. This allows different lines to have different train lengths by line...

Re: Mapping Downtown Parking

I think they also struggle to parallel park. There are plenty of spots on the street Downtown is approx 23 blocks E-W and 28 blocks N-S So 28 * 23 *2 for N-S and E-W each So that's 1736 city blocks If 60% of street space has parking and there's room for 10 spots per block 10,400 on street spots dow...
