johnmatrix might just be Darlene when she lets her hair down, kicks off her high heels and has a couple cocktails.
You are incapable of having a conversation I see.
No, that was spot on.

Re: Fairfax District - changed from MO to KS in the 1800s

It gets way more interesting. The county seat of Jackson County is not entirely inside Jackson County. Where the Blue River enters the Missouri there's a triangle formed where the river used to be, Rock Creek forms two sides. This small triangle of Clay County is split up among Kansas City, Independ...

Re: Fairfax District - changed from MO to KS in the 1800s

Do you think that affected the currents upstream? Would the bend have calmed the entire flow? The outside curve of a bend also could trap debris, creating a fast spot as the curve would help create instability in the flow as the river could have shrunk in size quicker than it eroded the inside curve

Re: "RideKC Next" transit system redesign

It says 3.1km from the nearest attraction, that will take someone about 32 minutes if they are walking fast, that is not accessible to many things outside of buses. And speaking from someone who travels a lot, I will always avoid buses if I can help it because they aren’t fixed, and you can easily ...

I get irrationally angry at the thought of spending one extra cent on glass jetways
I hope the city gets glass jetways. It will improve the experience for people with an apprehension of flying, the current style is kind of claustrophobic when a lot of people line up inside it.

Can we put a moratorium on these service (no sales tax) businesses snatching up the best quality development spaces.
Not a chance. When spaces are filled developers will build more of them.

Re: Bringing Conventions to Kansas City

KC won't have the turnout Nashville did and like KCP stated, KC just isn't a party town like Vegas, NO or Nashville. I wouldn't want that vibe downtown all the time anyway. Can you image if our Broadway street was lined with bars for 8-10 blocks...that would be a nightmare and I'm guessing a lot of...

Re: 1822 Main Redevlopment

What's up with these short buildings along streetcar. Math Banking, cost and rental rates don't support taller in general. The average per floor cost jumps for lower floors too as it gets taller because there's less rentable space. You need more elevators, more plumbing, more stairwell space. So to...

Oh, I agree but it doesn't mean we can't utilize these options more than we do today. Even a 1% change in the numbers on assistance will open up money for people who are waiting.

While best I still can't fathom people traveling for that event. Seems like a local only your of thing. I decided to find out what the turnout would be and found this. Even if it's local only, watch the video. https://twitter.com/espn/status/1121604796266500098?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweete...

Pay no attention to polling. A bad rainstorm on Election Day could up-end this race. True but Lucas seems to have the energy and momentum. Energy and momentum doesn't matter, it's all about turnout. There's plenty of examples of people not voting because they felt their candidate was going to...

Re: Next Mayor 2019

Remington's "races called correctly" score is 67%. The percentage of polls in which the polling firm correctly identified the winner of the race. If the poll indicated a tie for the lead and one of the tied candidates won, the pollster is given credit for half a win. Remington's February primary po...

Re: Affordable Housing

One problem we can take care of is to get people who can work off the public housing rolls, or at least reduce the numbers. Disability is not necessarily an excuse. It's going to be case by case. There's companies that provide jobs to the disabled and mentally ill to provide them employment. It's no...

I wonder what the average length of time between master plans is in other cities. 20+ years seems way too long. 20 years is dramatically short to actually do something. Our plan today should be what work we expect to have done by 2050. MARC works 30 years out for example. The related issue is city ...
