The next best bet after umkc is a regional plan
No, it’s the largest plan that can be funded and built.

Prospect Max is a good example of this.

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

The next best bet after UMKC is streetcar to NKC. By itself there's lots of opportunities, such as the HUGE empty piece of land on 10th ave between Burlington and Swift. Crossing the river opens up new set of commuter rail opportunities to Liberty (and onto Kearney and Excelsior) and Parkville. Both...

Re: Politics

I find some of the immigration really interesting. Like why did Bosnians settle in South St Louis and its now the largest bosnians population outside of bosnia. or why did Somilians and Hmongs settle in Minnesota? Even Akron has a large Burmese population. Al four examples have religious and langua...

Re: Politics

The idea the present administration has with shutting down, or severely limiting, immigration is simply madness. Most Americans are barely reproducing at a rate to replace the existing population of workers. The largest generation in history is either already retired and approaching retirement. And...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

I am a little confused and curious by what you meant in your last sentence though rxlexi? Sorry I agree that was poorly worded. Was trying to say that I wish the more vocal NIMBY/Save Our Plaza folks would be up in arms about ugly rehabs, crappy plaza facades, dying street trees, hideous parking lo...

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

Streetcar vs light rail vs commuter rail vs buss gone as a thing. It's all about building the system that serves each area best. It's entirely possible to build a great transit network that's insanely mixed in style. London is the ultimate example. Their underground is heavy rail and it serves place...

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

There's a bunch of Lime scooters in NKC now. At Swift and Armour, one corner has a permanent bike rack right at the street, the other has scooters in space between the two curb cuts. It's a good example of how corner bumpouts can be great usable space. It's easily a top 5 urban design intersection i...

It's a different color than all the other buildings around giving the area some variety. It's nice that they're not trying to make the building look fake old.

Re: How Kansas City got its' name

Every time I read ridiculous articles claiming that Kansas City was named after the ""Kansas River" I have to laugh. These writers always have a Kansas bias of some sort and constantly try to claim Kansas City for the state of Kansas. The article claims this at the start and notice they offer no pr...

Based on the design the elevator and stairwell shafts are behind that wall. Expanding from that space would have been extremely expensive.

I also noticed there was a big sign across the street to the west advertising the surface parking lot for sale. It's 205 W. 9th on the parcel viewer.
That was the Savoy's lot. Looks like this would be the owner who bought it from the hotel.

Re: OFFICIAL: Port Authority Riverfront Project

I imagine that's up in the air at this point. The concept map had lines and end points for the purpose of having them on the map and showing people there would be multiple stops.

Like their northland station would be roughly I-29 and Tiffany Springs Pkwy. It's not a real point by any means.

They will probably be under a lot of pressure to reduce the price the longer it sits, because there are activist shareholders who are demanding DST sell their real estate, and return to their core mission only. I think the best hope would b a full divestiture of all their property in one sale. The ...

Proper link: https://www.bizjournals.com/kansascity/news/2018/10/17/sullivan-higdon-sink-westport-headquarters-move.html It's also interesting there's not enough space and they couldn't find anything in the crossroads. We have never had open borders and never will.
Border control was introduced around 1904. The agency was founded in 1924.

So if there was no formal patrol, what kind of control was there at the borders?

Re: Misc Crossroads News

There's 100,000+ parking spots downtown. I figure it's business owners being unwilling to pay a monthly fee for parking on top of their own costs. It's not a silly argument, it's basic economics that they're unwilling to pay. The way this changes is by location playing a part in employee retention. ...

Putting a garage here was part of the plan for Union Carbide going back a decade. There was supposed to be a sky bridge from it to the condos

Nobody. Wants. Open. Borders.
Border control is like gun control. People who really want to come don't need an open border to do so.
