Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

Does Circo even live in the district? She represented the 5th district. And Jan Marcason might have been the worst council person ever for the 4th district. Of course, Shields blows her away now. Bottom line, we need some more names. I wouldn't call her the worst. I was at a neighborhood meeting wi...

Re: OFFICIAL: Penn Valley Park (Ideas+redeveloment)

The city of Boston has at least three cemeteries in the heart of the city and I would imagine that land has more value tied to it than Union Cemetery. To be fair about Boston, their cemeteries are for tourism too. To a certain degree so is Union Cemetary. While it's not an unfair statement, it's th...

I remain baffled that a project can get incentives in this town and offer no ground floor transparency. Code says to hide ground floor parking from the street. Have to make it be about safety to fight it. Ex. Cars pulling out with no sidewalk view It's why the goal should be ground floor retail spa...

Re: New Broadway Bridge

they have the airport....think how many people will pay it that are tourists and south of the river. Of course it would depend on the amount of the toll but many would probably avoid it in favor of an alternate route. I bet it would get more use than you think. Probably not enough to have people no...

We were at Smithville Lake. Had good views off and on until about 5 minutes before and the clouds moved in thick.

Got dark but no views of the sun during.

Same Greg Allen from "Historic" KC? yes. mr. #nopus. he told me in front of a large crowd in west plaza that he has never voted for any transit proposal in 30 years. can't get more opposition than that. does he know his job as a board mamber is to encourage it's financial success? board m...

Nothing except redevelopment. Don't confuse it with making a new park.

Houston is a special case compared to KC.

A drive that can take 20 minutes here is an hour in Houston. And here you can go on the freeway at 65mph at 4pm, whereas in Houston I've seen 25mph gridlock at 2:30 on a weekday

This quickly makes the commute a key consideration

I tend to avoid it, too hard to get there. The valet parking around it hurts the chances for short term shopper visits.

The hard part with changing the cemetery is it's one of the few pre-civil war parts of the urban landscape that hasn't dramatically changed.

If anything, using the space for respectful uses like jogging is about all that should be considered

Re: Attracting Employers Downtown (and Urban Core)

Seems like that theory is pretty easily shot-through by successful cities that don't have "good" schools in our near them and by unsuccessful cities that do have "good" schools in them and near them. I would call a university as providing a modifier. Their involvement takes any ...

Just please, no flying cars. Unless they fly themselves. People driving on roads are enough of a menace to other vehicles, people, and property. flying cars won't be like BTTF where people are flying themselves. No insurance company will touch them unless any such tech is fully automated. Flying em...

Oklahoma Joes Ok everyone makes a mistake now and then and names his shit after a state that has no BBQ tradition and that makes most people think of dirt roads and tornados. I gave him a pass thinking; he's just not a creative (or logical) person and he doesn't care about KC's rep as a BBQ capital...

If they're used, then good. Personally, I can't imagine anything on there that I couldn't get in my phone without rubbing my hands where 100s of other people have already. Guess that makes me a germphobe. good oleopathic coatings repel the oils on people's hands. that will cover like 99% of issues ...

looks like it's a full demo. pick the water disconnect permit from this month, scroll to the bottom and look at the parcel flags used.
You don't pick one with "demolish" in the name if it's just a gut.
