Re: Attracting Employers Downtown (and Urban Core)

Seems like that theory is pretty easily shot-through by successful cities that don't have "good" schools in our near them and by unsuccessful cities that do have "good" schools in them and near them. I would call a university as providing a modifier. Their involvement takes any ...

Just please, no flying cars. Unless they fly themselves. People driving on roads are enough of a menace to other vehicles, people, and property. flying cars won't be like BTTF where people are flying themselves. No insurance company will touch them unless any such tech is fully automated. Flying em...

Oklahoma Joes Ok everyone makes a mistake now and then and names his shit after a state that has no BBQ tradition and that makes most people think of dirt roads and tornados. I gave him a pass thinking; he's just not a creative (or logical) person and he doesn't care about KC's rep as a BBQ capital...

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

If they're used, then good. Personally, I can't imagine anything on there that I couldn't get in my phone without rubbing my hands where 100s of other people have already. Guess that makes me a germphobe. good oleopathic coatings repel the oils on people's hands. that will cover like 99% of issues ...

looks like it's a full demo. pick the water disconnect permit from this month, scroll to the bottom and look at the parcel flags used.
You don't pick one with "demolish" in the name if it's just a gut.

Re: Attracting Employers Downtown (and Urban Core)

Our big problem is it's functionally as easy to drive to a suburban location as to go downtown today. I agree with the list earthling made so when a company doesn't need to make a decision around tradeoffs why would they? We're still in a 1970s mindset on supporting the urban core from outside the u...

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

What role did the city provide that couldn't be channeled through nascently associated agencies? Planning can get up to the point of designing the actual track, lane and stop design since the city and all the utility partners come into the discussion at this point. The engineering plan has to inclu...

Re: We need a new airport!!!

Did it strike anyone else as odd that AECOM took down their fly through video of their iconic KCI plan? Do you think they're worried about other firms ripping off their ideas? They used to have it on their web site and now it's gone. Any competing company that wanted a copy downloaded it already. B...

Possible, but they could be accused of getting it wrong for one company if they do. Don't want that to happen

This isn't necessarily a new development but did happen to see this listing on Cushman Wakefield - hope it gets bought and developed appropriately http://x.lnimg.com/attachments/C39B0B41-6B24-40A0-A0DF-F760A05E6409.pdf This one is interesting, since it's the associated parking for the Savoy. The Star's reporting is a victim of excessive cost cutting.

The corporate HQ effectively got them to the point people don't trust their articles. That's not how you build a successful business.

If they had tried a bunch of things that didn't work they would have been used as evidence in favor of their stance.

They've had 15 years since they were turned down, plenty of times to try new things.

Re: We need a new airport!!!

The linear design would require tearing out a bunch of other buildings and seems the most likely to offer the longest possible distances.

I don't like it for that reason.

Re: We need a new airport!!!

From city documents, the runway position set the terminal design. Needed a certain spacing in feet to pull airplanes back from the gate and not back into the taxiways. I expect future expansion would expand the eastern building to the south with wings extending out to the west or SW, increasing dist...
