Re: Politics

Wait, the election board is on Liberty St in Independence. That has to have been on purpose.

It would only get more ironic if a PAC opened up on that street named Freedom, Inc and their purpose was to register people to vote.

That article makes the new sales tax sound like the Go Bond. Something for any pet project that comes up.

Re: We need a new airport!!!

Doesn't feel like those discussions would have any impact on the project....if it does, then that's great... But it felt like lip service. that's what was supposed to happen at this round they can't have bids going out for construction next month and aiming for FCC approval if the project design is...

Looks like they are falling behind schedule. No way they can put up two floors on the parking/meeting structure in 2 weeks.
Rain does that.

I fully expect they padded the schedule.

Re: We need a new airport!!!

Did anybody go to any of the open houses? What a waste of time and effort on the part of Edgemoor. Didn't provide a lick of value if you ask me.... It was basically "here is stuff you could find on the website" I lead a youth activity so I know how it’s possible to spoon feed people information and...

Re: Downtown Tanners closing?

I had all but forgotten about how every business that failed back then blamed either P&L or that customers couldn't smoke in them anymore. Even if smoking were allowed in businesses you wouldn't see many choose it because it's just not good business sense. It's something that tends to alienate non-...

Re: Westport

4200 is a dead back end corner of the neighborhood. It would be a really bad spot to put retail.

Given there's tons of parking without teardowns keep it all as office space so there's customers around to go to the existing retail spaces.

Here's a bid release schedule (scroll down about halfway)

https://www.cwcjv.com/construction-procurement/

The amount of moving pieces should increase dramatically in a couple months.

Re: We need a new airport!!!

The underwhelming terminal drawings and now the lack of any updates and information on the airport is deafening. It just seems that it will be even more delayed now. What are you talking about? They posted an update this week https://www.kci-edgemoor.com/news/ The slowdown is because the next steps...

Although I'm a fan of DDD, I've also read that Fieri-owned restaurants are overrated and not that great. That's an understatement. Just the URL says it all. https://nypost.com/2018/01/04/good-riddance-to-guy-fieris-times-square-tourist-trap/ good-riddance-to-guy-fieris-times-square-tourist-trap He ...

It's clearly delayed. Topping out should have taken 3-4 months total for a building that size.

We were in a drought for most of the summer so rain can't be an excuse.

KC Streetcar, Tom Hanks, Marlon Brando and such.

1720 Jefferson is for sale. God, what is wrong with people when they think a house should double in value in less than a year? It looks like about half the house was renovated and the other half cleaned up. That driveway is within a few years old. It could have a quarter million of work put into it...

People like Scott Wagner, who questioned Kander's motivations in a statement today. I know I joked about it, but that's actually pretty disgusting. He also tried on Twitter to claim that as a council member he started efforts that actually began in 1999, 12 years before he joined the council. It's ...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

Thanks for all the pics! Looking thru them I'm surprised how many exposed power lines are still in place. I would have thought the city would make the developers bury them. Developers have nothing to do with the transmission system, which is what you're seeing. The developer would just run conduit ...
