Re: OFFICIAL - Hyatt Regency Convention Hotel

Are there any actual updates on the hotel itself, and how close we are to getting groundwork started? The petition seems useless and pointless, especially if the city just settles everything and gets started. How close are they? This is the latest I could find. From what I can tell it involves the ...

The cost went up $20 based on your current price/available price. It's jumped several times already but they never charged current customers more.

Re: Patriot Highway

This project may be a little ambitious, but doesn't it make sense to look at a privately financed tollway as an option for the future? Just because most of us on here are for sensible urban development, it doesn't mean that suburban sprawl will cease and I'd rather have planning and land purchasing...

Re: Patriot Highway

They want a private company to buy the land to cut cost. They want to build in wifi, car charging and heat the road. The terms "value engineered" and "public funded" seems way more likely than anything they said. Claims like this is why you see septic tank cleanout trucks with th...

This is why I wouldn't dismiss the chance of this plan for passing. More people are experiencing the train. It's a lot harder to be against something after you've experienced in in person. But will this translate to a Yes in the August election is a huge question. https://twitter.com/TomGerend/statu...

Re: We need a new airport!!!

Why does he approve of this plan? Weird. From the article: Graves warmed to the company’s proposal because he believes the private financing aspect of it increases the chances that KCI could be rebuilt faster and under budget. Graves is likely to insist upon public support for the idea and for tran...

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

42% of KCMO residents (those people who return surveys) have ridden the streetcar. I bet this is WAY higher in midtown, closer to 80%.

Re: Harlem district to E of downtown aiport

It's easily the creepiest neighborhood in the city and I've been in most of them. Often forget about this hidden dilapidated ghost town. We biked through here recently and were fascinated. Something to check out on bike when up for an adventurous journey of industrial grit. Seems like the only place...

How to ensure the decline of all your businesses is to be the only person that can keep a place running well. After 8 years the entire cook staff should be able to keep a place going and there's a solid manager handling front of house. What happens to The Belfry if the she ends up in the hospital fo...

If you want to see what a Gerrymandered TDD would look like, pull up the city of Higginsville in google maps. They follow along the street so as to include a specific property they want to tax at I-70, and by avoiding farms, they reduce the number of voters that can turn down the expansion. If the p...

I have to imagine that cleaning up most of our old beauties over the last few decades did wonderful things for the perception of and confidence in downtown. I don't think we have to imagine, that's clearly important. HGTV shows us that there's a large number of people that care about aesthetics. Th...

The bill status says it hasn't been sent to the governor yet

A lot of house bills are stuck at the same point.
