Re: Be a Walkable Activist too

We already have code around mandatory bike parking. Since 2016, 88-420-09 requires short term (guests) and long term (residents, employees) bike parking. Long-term must be covered the problem is it doesn't apply until the property owner needs permit for parking. so if you've been in the same locatio...

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar

I don't know why, after seeing KC's ridership numbers, these lastest streetcar operations aren't going with a linear route. I could study that OKC transit map for five minutes and still not be able to describe to someone where it goes. It doesn't look like it will go anywhere fast with all those tu...

Re: Be a Walkable Activist too

It is so hard to find a bike rack when I'm riding downtown. Sometimes I have to walk almost a block and that is hard when I'm in high heels. I'm afraid to lock my bike to something that isn't officially designated, like a light pole, fence or water meter and there are so many homeless people that i...

Will we fight to save the historic honkey tubes?
Repurpose them and make an aboveground park. Use "STAR Bonds" to fund it.

People will drive from more than 100 miles for our tiny version of the High Line

Our home builder builds half million dollar homes. (ours isn't)

I think ours was the only two car garage they've built in years.

Re: Westport

I live in Lenexa. I go into Westport from time to time. To attract more people and tourists they need more parking. That stretch of highway gets very backed up also so I would add another lane going each way. Clearly you're wrong. We all know developments build more parking than they need, it's why...

Re: Plaza Residential Development

I've heard these are all actually two-car garages. One entrance, but designed with enough space to fit two. Wha!??? Then that is a clue that the images are cheats. The graphic narrows the garage door to minimize the yuck. These graphics are used to sell the idea, but are lies to reality. Have you e...

Re: Wonderscope, Childrens Museum to Merge

children's museums used to be about career exploration, arts and crafts and the like.
science museums used to be about static science displays, planetariums and such

I would say there's very few museums of either type anymore, that they're the same thing today

Re: Generic ongoing KCATA thread

There's encroachments up and down the cooridor. In one place there's a garage 100% on KCATA land. That said, the property line zig zags and most owners at least stick to the same straight line. DeJanes is who decided to ignore this to the most extreme and have a back yard that goes even deeper into ...

Re: Streetcar to the riverfront

There's already a trend down on parking requirements at least. Used to be common to have two spots per unit or room and that's trending downwards.

Sometimes change takes time.

Re: Midwest parking/transit access report

The big gain would come by shifting subsidies from parking to more frequency on the system.

Cooridors like N. Oak/Burlington are dramatically undeserved by busses. I can go weeks without seeing a bus on it and it has 7 day service.

Re: OFFICIAL - Loews Convention Hotel (formerly Hyatt)

They're moving super fast on the room floors. Must want to get this space up quicker than the convention space.

I didn't count the floors this morning but they're at about 2/3 height on the main tower.

They were talking about moving the parking to north of the power plant. It's not clear if that's part of the submitted plan.

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

How many of these decisions are at this phase??? Should curb running keep the existing six lane configuration with part-time bus lanes becoming the track lane or is it better to move to a four lane setup and add all day curb parking? How do you account for places like 4110 Main which is one big curb...
