Re: Misc Crossroads News

Proper link: https://www.bizjournals.com/kansascity/news/2018/10/17/sullivan-higdon-sink-westport-headquarters-move.html It's also interesting there's not enough space and they couldn't find anything in the crossroads. Spring Venture cleared out 60,000 square feet of crown center earlier this year a...

We have never had open borders and never will.
Border control was introduced around 1904. The agency was founded in 1924.

So if there was no formal patrol, what kind of control was there at the borders?

Re: Misc Crossroads News

There's 100,000+ parking spots downtown. I figure it's business owners being unwilling to pay a monthly fee for parking on top of their own costs. It's not a silly argument, it's basic economics that they're unwilling to pay. The way this changes is by location playing a part in employee retention. ...

Hooray for a new garage.
Putting a garage here was part of the plan for Union Carbide going back a decade. There was supposed to be a sky bridge from it to the condos

Nobody. Wants. Open. Borders.
Border control is like gun control. People who really want to come don't need an open border to do so.

Re: Politics

This is why there's a lot of people that like the idea of ranked voting.

It lets people have their preferred candidate as their top choice and when their vote is reallocated because they don't win, maybe their second choice will win. It's possible to come in second place in the first round and win

Re: Hyperloop between KC and STL

I'm onboard for anything that can take me between KC and StL in 30 minutes for less than the cost of driving. I'd go twice a year just to walk around looking at old buildings. 8) There is sort of. It has 6 wheels and 2 wings. It has a flight time of 30 minutes. Now if you use the IRS cost per mile,...

Re: How Kansas City got its' name

I still find the explanation strange because if Kansas City was named because its' location near the Kansas River, wouldn't it then have been logical to name the city after the Missouri River, or Missouri tribe? Because that wouldn't have told people where it was, at a place called Kansas. It got t...

Re: Politics

Wait, the election board is on Liberty St in Independence. That has to have been on purpose.

It would only get more ironic if a PAC opened up on that street named Freedom, Inc and their purpose was to register people to vote.

Re: We need a new airport!!!

Doesn't feel like those discussions would have any impact on the project....if it does, then that's great... But it felt like lip service. that's what was supposed to happen at this round they can't have bids going out for construction next month and aiming for FCC approval if the project design is...

Looks like they are falling behind schedule. No way they can put up two floors on the parking/meeting structure in 2 weeks.
Rain does that.

I fully expect they padded the schedule.

Re: We need a new airport!!!

Did anybody go to any of the open houses? What a waste of time and effort on the part of Edgemoor. Didn't provide a lick of value if you ask me.... It was basically "here is stuff you could find on the website" I lead a youth activity so I know how it’s possible to spoon feed people information and...

Re: Downtown Tanners closing?

I had all but forgotten about how every business that failed back then blamed either P&L or that customers couldn't smoke in them anymore. Even if smoking were allowed in businesses you wouldn't see many choose it because it's just not good business sense. It's something that tends to alienate non-...

Re: Westport

4200 is a dead back end corner of the neighborhood. It would be a really bad spot to put retail.

Given there's tons of parking without teardowns keep it all as office space so there's customers around to go to the existing retail spaces.

The amount of moving pieces should increase dramatically in a couple months.

The underwhelming terminal drawings and now the lack of any updates and information on the airport is deafening. It just seems that it will be even more delayed now. What are you talking about? They posted an update this week https://www.kci-edgemoor.com/news/ The slowdown is because the next steps...
