Re: We are getting a new airport!!!

The worst I ever saw was at 11pm at night. We flew Southwest back into town. I went to get the car while everyone else got luggage. Outside the closest doors everyone exits with their luggage there were people loading cars from four of the six lanes. At one spot I had to angle across two lanes of t...

Re: Washington Sq Park between Crown Center/Union Station

We're looking pretty much due north. This is the western building. Can't visualize where this building is to sit. Is it going to sit in a sea of parking connected to the park and street grid only by drives/sidewalks on causeways? That's sure what it looks like. The rendering appears to be just to s...

Retail space along 3rd? Who exactly would be a customer?

Retail should be centrally located around Missouri and Campbell, not next to an industrial area.

Re: Columbus Park Redevelopment

They had a pretty good start with the first 5th St infill then blew it with the following infill. The building on 5th that forces the sidewalk over so they could have on street angle parking? Or the building on 5th where "they" has an entirely different owner and put a parking lot along both 5th an...

Someone over the age of 60 will probably use the word “hoodlums” either in the meeting or on the local news. Ugh.
Why would someone be so insulting about their own children and grandchildren?

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

So for the plaza stop, northbound has a dedicated bus lane and shelters. What about southbound? At the Plaza stop, both lanes of the streetcar and the dedicated bus lanes will be on the east side of Main in a transit plaza. It shows that in the rendering if you take another look. My question is whe...

Re: New Broadway Bridge

There is no connection to the interstate now and it snot s good situation. Why not get that traffic out of the intersection and get people wanting to go around downtown getting around asap? That would be fine as long a the main bridge is lined up with broadway. The last thing downtown KC needs is m...

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

That stop should have a Spanish look. Red Tile Roof. Smooth concrete archways holding it up. Think LA Union Station. Why? It's not on the Plaza and there's multiple buildings equally far away without a Spanish look. why not? Branding consistency. A rider always can look for the same stop in the sam...

One long bench thing would be annoying. One long awning with breaks in it to go between would be nice.
Look at the McGowen stop in Houston. That's kind of what I picture

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

Full length awning with 2 full length benches back to back would be simple and effective. Same for bus stop with one long bench. However if they don't do that in other parts of metro it's a custom solution requiring custom maintenance. That might be the thinking of using standard stop shelters in a...

I like the Plaza center stop, but why can't the awnings be the entire length of the stop?

There's 16 seats total at what is going to be a major stop.

Re: Rankings, lists, and such

there are isolated pockets of the city that have definitely seen a sharp increase in home values. when we moved to south hyde park in 2008, for years it was almost unheard-of for a house to sell for more than $199K, except maybe one of the few truly enormous houses that are sprinkled in the area. The more parking structures we can demolish the better!
Developing surface lots should be higher priority.
Sure, in an ideal world where 80-90% of surface lots aren't owned by the building next door to them.

Re: Three Light

It sounds like your perception based on looking at a bus stop? What a poor way to determine nobody rides the bus. I don't think its DColeKC's literal perception. I agree that many people (unfortunately) think how he described. And let's be honest, someone's first experience with the bus is going to...
