Re: Bravicci Hotel Project - South of Crown Plaza Hotel

People just really can't wrap their heads around the fact that downtown is now a destination worthy of a thriving hotel market, even without significant convention growth. It's worth reiterating there's space for more than 100,000 people at downtown events at once so if we want significant conventi...

Re: What does it need

There's 26,000 people within 5 miles and this development somehow needs thousands of parking spots at once. Do they really think 30% of the population will be shopping there at the same time?

If anyone ever needed proof of how lazy development companies can be, this is it.

Re: 1900 Grand Blvd

Hopefully designed in a way to accommodate a tall tower in the future. Zoning allows for a maximum 130' There is no development on the Assurant lot across Grand that could justify building a standalone garage like this. Have we learned nothing? The Assurant lot is zoned for up to ~1,000,000 SQFT of...

2) Who keeps granting permits for these places to park cars on the sidewalks?! I get it, the owner has a McLaren... Cool? Now go park it in the parking lot off to the side, not directly in the walking path and quit defacing the beautiful car with your business logo. IIRC, this is being done without...

Re: Companies moving downtown

Does anyone have a list of downtown's biggest employers? Like top 25 or maybe top 15? I'm interested in knowing where Waddell and 1000+ employees would rank on the list. Are we talking top 5 employer in the greater downtown area? So many of them have multiple locations and it’s hard to find anyone ...

Re: Would you like to see the Royals move to a downtown stadium?

When talking about locations downtown if the city decides the best decision is to move them there. Then the East Village seems to make the most sense to me. Considering a stadium on the smaller side, such as Target Field; it could easily fit just northeast of the Fed Building. That location, 19th a...

Re: Old KCPS HQ - 12th & McGee

From that video, it appears Copaken wants to close McGee from 12th to 13th streets, and create a superblock. Hard pass. Stop F'in with the grid. I'd rather see a honky tube than that. The grid is already broken there. McGee doesn't cross I-70. Sure, they *could* keep the street open but if they wer...

Re: On-going downtown development projects

I don't think these maps are particularly up-to-date or complete. Here are a few things I noticed off-hand: seems to be missing Hyatt House, Cambria Hotel, Muehlebach, and Tracks 215. Strata is just called "future office tower" without any details. It wasn't current when it was created. This map is...

Re: Misc Crossroads News

Is disappointing to not see any plans for all those empty lots along streetcar line through Xroads after running for 3+ years. Single ownership. The owner has plans that aren't public. It's been very slow to move forward. Step one was the Hampton Inn. Most of the parking lots that exist, ~20 of the...

Re: Four Light

A W or similar hotel would be nice. Does 35 floors include garage? It may also end up being a “Live by Lowe’s” hotel which is a newer partnership with Cordish and Lowes. I’m not sure the convention center hotel is a conflict since they’re very different concepts and customers. Check out the one in ...

Re: Old KCPS HQ - 12th & McGee

I do hope this Board of Education sale yields something bold and audacious. ..Something to open the "East Village" to the P&L district. ..With a lack of Class-A space; absolute absorption rates are certainly constrained by inventory of contiguous space. If a surface parking lot is considered good u...

Re: Would you like to see the Royals move to a downtown stadium?

I don't pay much attention to this issue and haven't read through this entire thread, but wonder why I've never heard anyone suggest Columbus Park for a stadium? I think there is 6 to 9 acres assembled and awaiting development. You're talking about the housing authority land at 4th and Harrison. It...

Would the ballpark fit on this block, merged with the Copaken-owned lot at 12th & Grand?
No, it's about 200 feet too small N-S compared to St Louis, Minneapolis, Wrigley, San Francisco and Boston

Even Omaha's ballpark is too big for those two block

Doesn't 1034 rely on the transit center moving? I can see how the timing would work out for that given the new east center is under construction, however.

The worst I ever saw was at 11pm at night. We flew Southwest back into town. I went to get the car while everyone else got luggage. Outside the closest doors everyone exits with their luggage there were people loading cars from four of the six lanes. At one spot I had to angle across two lanes of t...

Re: Washington Sq Park between Crown Center/Union Station

We're looking pretty much due north. This is the western building. Can't visualize where this building is to sit. Is it going to sit in a sea of parking connected to the park and street grid only by drives/sidewalks on causeways? That's sure what it looks like. The rendering appears to be just to s...

Retail space along 3rd? Who exactly would be a customer?

Retail should be centrally located around Missouri and Campbell, not next to an industrial area.

What's going on with the trail crossing the street at Westport Rd?
That's crossover track. The legend tells you what color is used for what.
