I like how it's obstructing the view for drivers of pedestrians entering the mid-block crossing. Nice touch of death!
But there's a sign telling drivers to look for a pedestrian in front of the car. Why else would the sign be there?

Re: 2019 Mayor/Council Elections

Per Twitter - Loar and Lucas have been visiting the project up at KCI. Sounds like there may be something behind the rumors that she’s the next Airport Committee lead. I think Fowler was with them also...so maybe he just went with the people whose district it is? One post said the brand new northla...

And there will still be about 100 USDA based in DC after move.
100 would effectively mean just HQ. The Secretary won't leave DC. The heads of all the agencies are based out of DC even when the agency is elsewhere.

Re: Affordable Housing

Interesting idea. What about the Chouteau Court site?

It's still close to downtown, has bus service to get around, has good road access without crazy turns. It would be a positive use of a difficult spot without bringing gentrification to the area.

Those three-lane one ways (Madison and Belleview) are a recipe for collisions :(
Incredibly, most of the time they're practical one lane roads. People park on both sides. Makes the situation even worse.

Re: East Side Development

I would think you would need a grocery in the area before you would get new residents. So it's a risk, but one I suppose you need to take. To missing KC's point: I think you are correct, question is, when do you give up? I would agree with that assessment on demand for amenities first. I think the ...

Re: The Second Board of Trade Building

While the board of trades demolition was tragic but unsurprising, the Waldheim Building’s demolition is just straight up baffling. Why didn’t they incorporate it into the modern complex? Why is the replacement so short? It’s especially frustrating when the nearby town pavilion did such a good job i...

Would be nice if all City Market counter joints had $2-$3 small eats. Good way to sample various places for weekend visitors too.
This might sound crazy, but it sounds like an automat stocked by all the stores could provide this. The lower labor needed helps keep cost down.

In an alternate universe, our airport would've been perfect for some sort of basic ornamentation to compensate for the lack of form. But, alas, modernism can never cope with low budgets, so all we get is a series of white and glass boxes.
The 1% art project will hopefully help here.

We have a local company who builds them, Zahner

I would add something about looking into free carrier/ISP wifi when choosing where to work.

For example, Spectrum has free wifi hotspots for their customers.

Yes, thus my comment on the Washington Square Park redevelopment thread about always putting amphitheaters/concert spaces in big projects. Also, concert spaces of any kind are useless unless the property owner has a budget to program the space. A good small music facility design is one that can be ...

Too bad they didn't get involved with the Metro North redevelopment. It illogical only in terms of a specific development. As a northland based business clearly they don’t want to be closer to their own theatre at N Brighton than they need to be. Building more towards a AMC theatre makes more sense.

Being physically present to vote is so dumb in government. I wouldn't want someone to get voted onto the council and then effectively move away. Clay’s petition is back on the City Council docket. Is the Council able to “edit” the wording as to remove references to a gondolas and/or make the plan more realistic? They can, but they risk a lawsuit. I'm sure they'll just leave it as is and pray it doesn't pass. The petition already accounted f...
