Re: vegan/vegetarian (or veg-friendly) KC eateries????
Vegetarian restaurant and juice bar coming to old Good Chicken location on Broadway. http://www.kansascity.com/2014/05/30/5056618/vegetarian-restaurant-and-juice.html I give it four months. That space has a terrible history and then you throw on top of it the challenge of selling KC veg? Can't imag...

Re: Ferguson, Missouri
You must have really been impressed with McCulloch's show if you came away with the idea that there was absolutely nothing to the prosecution's case. There are still a lot of components to the forensic reports that are damaging to Wilson. The incident at the quick shop may well have been inadmissabl...

Re: Ferguson, Missouri
The problem is you probably wouldn't have had a trial. By the time they went through the pre-trial motions the judge would have either dismissed the case or the prosecution drop it. What exactly are you basing that on? There is still a dead, unarmed kid with a lot of bullet holes under very sketchy...

Re: Ferguson, Missouri
That's exactly what this case needed. The public needed to see that the witnesses sucked, not just have Robert McCulloch stand at a podium and lecture them that the witnesses sucked. As I said, the result is probably an acquittal, but this was too important a case not to have a public trial. The pro...

Re: Ferguson, Missouri
If the grand jury was conducted by a special prosecutor would the outcome be any different? Still would have had conflicting witness testimony between the witnesses and the physical evidence. That is the major problem with this case - the witnesses. No other prosecutor would have laid out all that ...

Re: Ferguson, Missouri
I don't disagree but we have what we have. Will be interesting what happens at the federal level with regards to charges for Wilson. Also, up-in-the-air is a civil lawsuit but even that may not turn out well given the witnesses so far. Zero chance on fed charges. No way they can prove the mens rea.

Re: Ferguson, Missouri
I am skeptical that the evidence could have supported a conviction. But letting a prosecutor with a questionable appearance of impartiality conduct a farce of a grand jury did nothing to further the course of justice. He should have recused himself in favor of a special prosecutor or put forth his b...

Roberts is in a dead heat in the polls with Orman, Trade secret: No he's not. He's trailing. Even with Taylor still in the mix and taking points. Yea, I saw the PPP poll today. That spells deeeeep trouble for Roberts. Hey they are bringing in Palin to help him build back up his credibility so I am ...

Re: Ferguson, Missouri
I think it is far too limited to view the source of the problem as merely one of US history. There are signs that humans have been naturally inclined to be mistrustful and hostile to those who look different than their own tribe since long before recorded history. A lot of progress has been made the...

Re: parking garage ordinance to be aware of
I like the spirit, but is twenty feet of lawn really the answer? We all know what the typical KC developer is likely to do if given a choice between building ground floor commercial space v. Incorporate a 20 ft set back of sod.

Re: We need a new airport!!!
A better analogy than the AC is someone with an old high mileage car. It is still getting you to work but it runs rough, gets 12mpg, the head gasket is going and you know it is going to need a new exhaust to pass its next inspection. None of your friends will ride with you and u can't go on dates be...

went yesterday. ftoo bad this store wasn't built downtown. they built an urban store in Merriam, KS but not all is lost. now there's thousands of KS residents that understand how to do retail well without needing a huge parking lot out front or a huge single story big box Based on all of the IKEAs ...

Re: Renovations of apartment buildings along Armour Blvd.
As someone who just moved from St. Louis, please do not consider a store in Ballwin as a store in St. Louis. Those people live WAY out of the city. A better Grocery store idea out of St. Louis is Fields Foods. It has a lot of organic and local products and it has some cool ideas. Like you can go in...

Re: P&L Building
I get that in the age of internet readership they have to make headlines interesting enough to click on. But when the headline suggests something 180 degrees different than the content, I think you have a serious ethics problem. If called out on it I am sure the might acknowledge that it was mislead...

BNIM is relocating to the TWA building in the Xroads. http://www.kansascity.com/news/business/article1344763.html I would like to nominate this for one of the star's worst headlines of the year - not an easy achievement to bag. They go out of the way to suggest in the headline that this is some sor...

Hey at least this reaction is born more out of pride in the city and its BBQ status. BBQ seems to be one of the few things that pretty universally gets Kansas Citians to puff out their chest with civic boosterisim.KCMax wrote:Petty provincalism once again rears its ugly head in Kansas City. video of the actual shooting, yes. Video of an unrelated event, no. Oh, but could be related. If you had just shoplifted and were high and a cop approaches you, you would probably think it had something to do with the shoplifting or being high. So, it wouldn't be illogical to think Brown's actions ...

Re: Ferguson, Missouri
But since the officer had a gun on him the civilian has to die. But even if he did nothing wrong doing the altercation, if you're already breaking the law by shop lifting and smoking marijuana (both are against Missouri law), the chances of something bad and undeserving happening are much, much gre...
