Re: Proposed apartment for 13th and Walnut

AWESOME NEWS! As the new tower approaches completion and pre-lease units are announced, I'm hoping the tower hits max occupancy before it even opens, thus spurring on the incentive to go foward with the additional 2 Light and 3 Light towers on the South side of P&L. Go KC go!

Outdoor signage and awning signage is now up. Interior was viewable from the street and its very rustic contemporary. I like it!

Re: Crown Center: urban disaster, shining star, or in-betwee

Posted this elsewhere, so it's not really in response to this thread specifically, but it's obviously relevant to the topic: First off, If it were not for Hallmark, there wouldn't be any department stores in the urban core of KC. KC people tend to totally take for granted what is one of (if not the...

I am unaware of SAMS Club going anywhere. It's a busy store/location and the only warehouse club in that region.

Re: 50s/Main development

The rendering might just be generic stock. Only shows 3 floors, project to be 6. Not a great design, and no balconies. Streetfront with retail will be good no matter how it looks. It may be generic, but that is the Main Street rendering and the elevation looks to be about 2 floors lower on the Balt...

Re: 50s/Main development

The developer web site has a couple other renderings as well as this one. I'm excited to see this come to life and think it will be a huge boon to the area not to mention the impact to local businesses.

Re: New Downtown YMCA

Two blocks is not what I was referring to for work. I walk at lunch when able almost 3 miles. The comment was based on people that live downtown and if they have to go to and from their cars daily, two blocks is a decent walk especially when dealing with daily errands/routines. I personally don't ha...

Re: New Downtown YMCA

And I thought there was plenty of parking downtown. There's not. Especially in that area. UMB parkers have to be in a wait list for most of the lots in the vicinity of our buildings and the 1006 Grand folks have to rent spaces as far as Wall Street garage. That's quite decent walk from home to car ...

The only way the old Fed would become housing is high end market rate apartments/lofts or resurrection of condos. The new YMCA may re-ignite that development as well as the old Pickwick.

I wish the Grand proposal would encompass an additional 6-10 stories of lofts/apartments. That would be a huge boon.

I personally like Simply Breakfast. Food is standard and cheap and I've never had issues with service. Took my mom there on many Saturdays and the place is packed at mid-morning on weekends. It may not be a star foodie joint, but at least its affordable, urban and local.

I love going to the Midland and AMC (haven't been since Alamo took over) though. What does DT need to attract you though? More/better restaurants? Retail? I would think a couple of "must visit destination" restaurants would probably get me in the loop more. we do actually want to check ou...
