Re: Is KC Tenants destroying the development future of downtown KCMO?
In a move that surprises no one, and should hurt KCTenants unless they give him the boot, Hartzell has come out as a Marxist. https://x.com/hartzell965/status/1782063139334336825?s=46 Dang! I was reading over his tweets and this Hartzell guy is a disgrace. He embraces a number of hateful ideologies...

Re: T-Mobile Center (formerly Sprint Center)
would there be an option to have a pro sports team in TMobile and look to build a stand alone outstanding class concert venue somewhere within the downtown area? I know we have the performing arts center and it does very well. Any chance to somehow piggyback off of that and create a concert venue w...

Re: T-Mobile Center (formerly Sprint Center)
The city is absolutely alive and teeming downtown because of concerts and out of town sports events. A Home Town sports event would do little for the area. It wouldn't even sell out consistently like every concert does at T-Mobile Center. The spin-off income, hotel nights, everything else is so much...

Yeah. Agree with you was just more sharing my frustration. It’s also clear AEG doesn’t want a tenant either. If this could be proven could they be sued? I don't know what they could be sued for. They helped build it and operate the facility, it was never on them to find a sports tenant. They're goi...

Re: Real Estate Listings of Interest (Metrowide)
Rowhouses and townhouses are charming, but bear in mind when developing that many older people who are looking to downsize, need places with no stairs. Makes the hunt for affordable housing as an elder even more difficult. I have asked for "urban flats" for years. Cannot talk anyone into ...

Re: Is KC Tenants destroying the development future of downtown KCMO?
The most obvious focus is results. They have protested new developments that set aside some affordable housing. Has KCTenants created one unit of new housing for low-income people? If not, why not? No. Because their organization's top leadership wants social housing, and is in an all-or-nothing min...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)
I wonder if the continued security issues at the Plaza are giving any pause to the Dallas firm that is buying the shopping center? It's a pretty big issue as it impacts the public's confidence in their own security and hence patronage. Especially at night. They have to be wondering how they can con...

What I don't understand is it's not like the police aren't arresting criminals because they are. How often are these people released back into the streets within days committing crime? It's very telling the mayor and council will touch on a wide range of issues from abortion to Palestine but when i...

Precisely. How long is it going to take for everyday people to realize that there is no bargaining room with them because of this? Re: Is KC Tenants destroying the development future of downtown KCMO?
Why isn't KCT working with the city on things like addressing changes to the energy code that builders are having trouble working with when getting permits? The article references nine single family home permits issued in the past six months instead of 85 per months before the code change (Sept 202...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Clay and Platte combined are half the size of Jackson. A Royals only tax would only need to be half the amount since the Chiefs are not involved. So the same 3/8 tax should raise about the same amount for the Royals. However, I think they can do it with state only money in the NKC site. It will be ...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
The reality is that KC Tenants will/would have come out against every possible proposal the Royals put on the table. The details are irrelevant, whether East Village, East Crossroads, saving the K, whatever. The issue is tax money going to a team owned by a billionaire, that doesn't change no matte...

Sources: https://clerk.kcmo.gov/Legislation.aspx , Cityscene, https://kctenants.org/press I think you are making the common mistake of minimizing their negative impacts. It's an easy mistake to make when viewing through too narrow a lens. Looks like we can add another billion or so in losses to the...
