Re: Kc skyscraper drought about to max depression era droughttt.

A quick scan of the corridor shows multiple development sites and other opportunities to creatively build on setbacks if the sidewalks were pushed out.

Re: OFFICIAL - Loews Convention Hotel (formerly Hyatt)

Of course with advance warning, you have to make sure the contractor doesn't do something dumb like put the "Sidewalk Closed" sign where it obstructs the ADA ramp at the last open corner...

Re: OFFICIAL - Loews Convention Hotel (formerly Hyatt)

Many (most?) people will not cross a street to get around a sidewalk closure. They'll walk in the street, along the barricade. This is especially true if the closure is mid-block or away from a protected crosswalk. Just watch one of these sites for a while.

Re: Amenities missing from downtown

Planter's carries a modest selection of hardware items. If you've never wandered through Harry J. Epstein you're doing yourself a disservice. Strasser's is a bike ride away. Home Depot is a bus ride away. For groceries, you have Cosentino's and Nature's Own within walking distance. You can supplemen...

Re: We need a new airport!!!

Looks like precheck in the Southwest area is getting a taste of what a new airport will be like. They moved all TSA precheck traffic for Southwest through the "secret" gate and removed normal entry from that gate. It will make both more efficient at checking people in, but precheck folks ...

The biggest thing I could have asked for was moving the route to Grand. That was done and it's been 2 wonderful months of speedy travel through downtown. 1.) I concur that the pavement on Main Street south of Grand leave much to be desired. I find myself almost by instinct bracing for certain pothol...
