Re: Troost developments

Thanks. That sounds more like my understanding of the situation on that block. There is a garage somewhere in the center of that block, but I don't know the size or condition. I believe it's accessed from the Firestone Building on the south end.

Re: Uptown Shoppes

At some point they wanted to build a Corporate Woods office park in Valentine. But now I think they're just speculators and are sitting on the land.

Re: Beacon Hill

The architecture is nice, but all that Beacon Hill development comes with the caveat that those nice new homes are part of an HOA, not the old homeowner's association. That will always bother me. It should never have been allowed to happen.

Re: Uptown Shoppes

IIRC they owned some houses north of the school that were demolished. Not sure if that happened as part of the school reno or if it was just KC Life being KC Life.

Re: Uptown Shoppes

It would be surprising if MAC hadn’t tried to buy the Knicks. That project is in their wheelhouse. But has KC Life renovated or sold any of their vacant properties in Valentine? They are the black hole of property management.

I could actually see them showing up to fight the parking issues

Me too. "On-street parking is just developers stealing our streets", according to one member of that organization.

Hall and Shields are solid yes votes. Barnes is a solid no. Prevailing wind gusts on the morning of the vote will determine the other two votes.

The Firestone Bldg is up for auction in 9 days. Auction Start Time: 11/28/2017 11:00 AM CST http://www.loopnet.com/Listing/2001-Grand-Ave-Kansas-City-MO/9774553/ Does the fact it is an auction imply anything, i.e. foreclosure ? I hope it goes to a responsible owner with a vision for an office or re...

Re: Renovations of apartment buildings along Armour Blvd.

94% of the houses within 1/4 mile of Armour and Troost have a driveway. The majority of the houses that don't are in Center City. This isn't a MAC talking point; I counted them myself. I think there are 2 reasons we keep having this discussion about parking, with the same people: 1. Nobody has ever ...

Re: Renovations of apartment buildings along Armour Blvd.

All are being replaced with equal or larger developments. The ones at 27th and Linwood were cool but completely rotten inside. I was inside the one at Linwood. That one could have been saved with a very large amount of money. The building at 27th would have had to had the roof and top floor rebuilt....

Re: Renovations of apartment buildings along Armour Blvd.

Thanks for speaking up about the parking. I'm going to do the same at the SPNA meeting in January. I'm optimistic that this can get done without building a garage, but it may take some organizing to make sure the city hears us. I have a huge ethical problem with a garage, which if built will probabl...
