I don't know if there's any new information, but Mission's Gateway web site says it was updated 4/16. http://www.mission-ks.org/index.aspx?NID=136

Re: Downtown Mission/ The Gateway
From Mission's Web site: The project concept retains a hotel, an upscale fitness center, a theater, office and residential space, and The Kansas Aquarium.

Re: Downtown Mission/ The Gateway
I don't want to speak for anyone, but I think a lot of people are disappointed because the development appears isolated from the rest of the neighborhood. It's also receiving tax breaks to move a Walmart from Roeland Park to Mission, not to mention removed the cinema from the initial plans. Anyway,...

Re: Best "urban" option in KS?
My wife and I recently bought our first home in Roeland Park and we love it. Moved from southern JOCO to get away from the cookie-cuttiness of it all. Yes, like all older areas there are not so great parts, but there's a ton of nice parts as well. Prairie Village, Fairway, and parts of Mission as we...

Re: Downtown Mission/ The Gateway
So there's no moderator who can get us back on track with the Mission Gateway Project? Three pages of immigration debate. Seriously?

Re: Downtown Mission/ The Gateway
To try to get back on topic, according to Mission's Web site the theatre, fitness center, etc. are still being incorporated into the site: Latest News: The Gateway developer has announced plans to move forward with the project. The development includes all previously announced tenants/users. The pro...

Re: Downtown Mission/ The Gateway
speaking of "people of wal-mart," a few years ago the A/C crapped out in my apartment. it was too hot for me to sleep, and i didn't have a fan, so i went out to the 24 hour walmart at I-70 and Blue Ridge at about midnight to buy a fan. truly a sight to behold. it wasn't "scary" ...

Re: Downtown Mission/ The Gateway
This. +1. The Lowe's and Price Chopper are great. But that Wal Mart fucking sucks. Agreed...wealthier white people probably don't shop at Wal-Mart..because they think it sucks. Not some racist conspiracy or fear of the working class. Has nothing to do with class or race. I'm white - by nooooo means...

Re: Downtown Mission/ The Gateway
Sorry, I call bullshit on the "scary" business or the Mexican prejudice. People love the Mexi-Chopper in the same development. It can get a little crowded, but it's a pretty nice shopping environment. There's a Lowe's next door, never hear anyone complain about the people who shop there. ...
