Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

When Lime hits with another 400-500 scooters would expect those annoyed by scooters to speak up louder. It's the nature of new things that are highly visible, especially interacting with drivers/peds. The typical pro-urban position is that in the City.. - Peds are highest priority - Bikes/scooters/t...

Re: The Russell on Main

Not impressed with the Gyro wrap (too dry) but the #1 Chicken Schwarma wrap is quite good (and filling enough). Will have to try bowl if hungry.

That’s a ton of new places, especially in the Crossroads.
About 40% of entire metro list is River to 85th St stretch.

Various restaurants coming to City

Most of these known to raggers, some I haven't heard about... Kansas City Star CITYSCAPE Coming soon ▪ Afterword Tavern & Shelves, bookshop, bar and cafe, 1834 Grand Blvd. Opening later this year. ▪ Bar + Rec, 1729 Grand Blvd. Opening in 2019. ▪ Baramee Thai Bistro, 1810 Baltimore Ave. Mid-August. ▪...

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

Would like to see enforcement of sidewalks along streetcar and wherever there are bike paths but otherwise rider etiquette should be to stay off busy sidewalks or if people seen walking up ahead (or ride very slowly). Mixed feelings about making Main through downtown a red zone but riders should use...

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

They may still be checked out, possibly accidentally. Not thrilled with Bird's two step check in. When you click Lock, it should stop the billing.

But also could be below 15% power, which is when they take it offline but has enough juice for Charger to find.

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

^That should cover some gaps. Rode a Bird other day with 30% charge and it didn't have much speed, had to kick a little too often. Lime has bigger batteries but their presence will also mean Birds used less often, so more Birds should have more juice by end of day. Would think most will use whatever...

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

^Will be interesting to see how broad they start and how many scooters.

Ever since Plaza has been red zoned, Bird has no morning Nests south of 43rd now.

^About 200. Heavy concentration of morning Nests along Main through Midtown today. They seem to be experimenting with different nesting locations each morning.

Sigh, though not surprising. Means no morning nests. And saw somewhere that Bird may cancel your acct if you repeatedly park in a red zone.

Any new GMap neighborhood names for KC that are now commonly accepted or used by realtors?

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

Outside downtown, this Sunday morning Bird nests more focused along Westport Rd and Plaza, they seem to avoid Main and east for nests. But city overall apparently hasn't hit much over 100 scooters yet. Doesn't seem to be nearly enough as last evening most were gone/off map by 5PM. They are rolling o...

Google Maps renames neighborhoods, residents fume

Google doesn't always use official/commonly accepted names for Maps and it fumes/confuses some residents. And sometimes the names given become accepted broadly... https://www.sfchronicle.com/business/article/As-Google-Maps-renames-neighborhoods-residents-13130850.php KC's urban core looks generally ...

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

Looks like Bird is experimenting with morning Nests. There are a bunch concentrated on Plaza today but not much rest of Midtown/Westport as yesterday. This could be the first real test for any Plaza outcry with about 3 dozen starting within a few blocks. Though they'll fan out to surrounding areas o...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

^Taubman mentions transitioning retail spaces to more restaurants but that's about it. They need to target much broader than that such as nightlife/cultural venues that target perhaps 40+. Like Highwoods, no mention of a neighborhood surrounding it, which Nichols always acknowledged and partly cater...

Perhaps because there are designated places for auto parking, there are not designated places for scooter parking?

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

^Agree. BTW, have installed the Lime app and when zoomed out it shows KC as a Lime city on map but nothing deployed yet. Will be interesting to see if bikes and scooters or scooters only. They look to be scooter only in Austin (they have Bcycle) while STL now has both.
