Re: Politics

I find some of the immigration really interesting. Like why did Bosnians settle in South St Louis and its now the largest bosnians population outside of bosnia. or why did Somilians and Hmongs settle in Minnesota? Even Akron has a large Burmese population. KC has a large Somali/Sudanese population ...

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

As a bus rider I can see where you are coming from, a free bus could be just as useful for those who are indifferent about bus vs streetcar. But don't think you can debate that fixed rail of any kind will ultimately spur significant development through midtown and attract new riders overall and redu...

Variety good but wouldn't exactly call this complementary. Sticks out like sore thumb. Though not a fan of tan in general, and it doesn't age well. That is, darker tones have a better 'distressed' look over time than tan, which looks dirty in not a good way.

Armour/Troost seems to be an ideal next spot. Has MAC been involved with sponsoring stations?

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

Have there been any complaints to City ever since Bird/Lime expanded? If not, any chance City will allow more scooters (over 500 per operator) or more operators?

Re: Politics

The idea the present administration has with shutting down, or severely limiting, immigration is simply madness. Most Americans are barely reproducing at a rate to replace the existing population of workers. The largest generation in history is either already retired and approaching retirement. And...

Re: Westport

Does KCATA have something like a sales team to work with downtown companies to provide company subsidized monthly bus passes? And monthly bus passes now include free 60min bikeshare rides. Bus passes are $40/month at my company; they are willing to do this to cut back on parking spaces needed. Tryi...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

Honey If you don't like density move to the fuckn burbs. KC has very little urbanity as it is and needs to build it up 5 fold, starting with The Plaza area as it's the easiest path to get there.

Pro Tip: Can watch pretty much any NFL game using Yahoo Sports on Android using FakeGPS app. Set GPS to local market of game you want to watch with FakeGPS then launch Yahoo Sports. If you have Chromecast, can also cast to TV but only if phone supports doing entire screen (Yahoo app itself doesn't s...

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

^Thought 500 was limit set about a month ago. Amusing it shows a pic of illegal usage - riding on sidewalk by city employee?

Some gaps that could be filled by either operator: Armour Blvd, Roanoke/W Plaza, more in Columbus Park, Southmoreland, generally more E of Main in Midtown

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

Seems it would be better to define a service area and then distribute evenly across area - ideally anyone in service area can access within a couple blocks. Some automated data analysis of daily usage per market should give them a solid idea how to keep fairly evenly distributed. If delivering outsi...

Re: Parlor - 1707 Locust

It's a unique product for downtown to have. If it fails, would think due to high prices rather than the food/vibe of place. Liked the outdoor deck most. KC Pils was $3 special of day when I was there, so there's that. Did the Scandinavian sausages with thin potatoes slices - good but overpriced. Giv...

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

Looks like the Segway built Lime scooters have a 35 mile range instead of 23. If these newer scooters can last a day or two on one charge as well as replaceable batteries in field, can see why they'd want to leave out overnight. https://techcrunch.com/2018/05/01/lime-partners-with-segway-to-build-el...

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

Ah, if batteries can be swapped in field that should simply things a great deal - though maybe not if older scooters still in the mix. Neighborhoods with single family homes might complain about scooters left overnight but shouldn't be a big deal to rest of city.
