Re: Next Mayor 2019
After crime and schools, keeping up infrastructure should be a focus. Especially after this harsh winter. Was driving through JoCo the other day on those nicely plowed streets with no potholes. Enter KCMO and there's a pothole every hundred yards or so - or having to dodge something. We need a pro-d...

Restaurant openings do seem to be happening at a faster rate than Midtown population increase.

Is likely they have emergency pull things that take out entire window. But still, not being able to open window for some air not great.

Yeah, sometimes drivers run the heat high when 50s to 60s and I need to open window just to breathe.

Re: Rankings, lists, and such
Agree that Google Fiber wasn't a failure, just that the window to capitalize on it is over. Now that airport, transit and downtown have attention/momentum, the new priorities for the region should be boosting up the universities and addressing crime.

Re: Rankings, lists, and such
Not stellar growth @5% considering OKC, Nashville, Louisville and Indy all regionally kicked butt. How can KC do better? KC had its chance with the Google Fiber hype, which has since subsided now that gigabit is broad. Warm weather cities and winter 'destination' cities (Denver, MSP) will do well, ...

As low brow diners go Cascone's has recently been at the bottom of the barrel food wise. Look forward to an upgrade even if just middle=of=pack diner but should probably offer some different items than City Diner. Like focus on potato scrambler type plates or something.

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)
The church, however, says it doesn’t need rescuing. A letter from the church’s executive board, filed with the city’s Historic Preservation Committee in response to the nomination, said that while members treasure the existing structure, they don’t consider it historic and don’t support the propose...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)
The trend of many existing church goers appears to be gathering in strip malls or mega churches - 'the building doesn't matter' crowd. Most of the rest are struggling to maintain expensive old money pit buildings with shrinking members.

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)
The reality is that underused property in a prime location like that is sold to highest bidder that likely wouldn't find a good function for that structure (the layout of building and fact that it's few floors). Ditto for the old Westport bank building, unfortunately. Both could have made great rest...

Re: Politics
At the risk of generalizations.. . Northland KC evangelicals seem pretty religiously extroverted where KS evangelicals more likely to keep to themselves, but neither as politicizing as southern MO. I spend a lot of time in NW and upper central MO and they appear to be more like Iowa. St Joe area sti...

Re: Politics
According to same source, KS has a bit more religiously unaffiliated than MO and more Latino Catholic of course but was surprised to see KS white/latino catholic combined is more than MO. KS has slightly more evangelical than MO but southern MO seems more driven to politicize religion in this era. S...
